Sad news to learn of another K-pop singer who died by suicide. Goo Hara was 28.
A similar discussion about the pressures of stardom and depression broke out just last month after the 25-year-old singer Sulli was found dead at her home in Seoul in what police said was an apparent suicide. Sulli and Goo were close friends, local media reported.
For one Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan, last night's Grey Cup win by the Bombers meant he will wear pants now! He was wearing shorts to the team's games for 18 years. Now that he has won his bet...

Effects on the Canadian economy due to 1 week old CN Rail workers' strike:
https://www.thestar.com/business/201...cn-strike.html
There's a tentative agreement with CN Rail-possible Wednesday return to service:
The federal government had faced mounting pressure to resolve the strike — either through swift mediation, binding arbitration or back-to-work legislation — as premiers and industry voiced concerns about lost profits and a critical propane shortage in Quebec.
However the government said it believed that the quickest way to end the dispute would be a negotiated settlement hammered out at the bargaining table.
The union thanked the prime minister for respecting the workers’ right to strike and acknowledged the help of Labour Minister Filomena Tassi, Transport Minister Marc Garneau and the federal mediation and conciliation service in reaching the deal.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

If you live in Hamilton, St. Catherines or Peel Region (ON), Alectra is in the news:
But the report goes on to say that since the June meeting, the city has learned that Alectra provides access to 23 subcontractors, but has only "reluctantly" shared 14 third-party agreements with city staff.Staff believe Alectra may be of the position that it did obtain consent — "either explicitly or implicitly" — to share the information because of their direct relationship with customers.
Because city staff have "yet to hear a satisfactory explanation" for the third-party arrangements, the staff report recommends that the city manager ask for a "prompt and comprehensive" explanation from Alectra.
What the University of Toronto discovered with its pilot childcare on weekends project-yes, there's a need for evening and weekend care so student parents can study/take classes.
“One of the things that became evident to us was that during crunch time around exam time most students who have small children probably will have child care arranged during the regular hours, but the reality is there isn’t a lot availability of extended weekend or evening child care available in the community. And so it’s really challenging for students to be able to eek out some additional study time when they don’t have reliable support for their children on evenings and weekends.”Last edited by Ciel; Thu, Dec 12th, 2019 at 02:13 PM.
