Conventional mortgages and available amortization periods
Lenders are slowly announcing their policies around their allowable amortization periods for conventional mortgages.
In the past new mortgage rules effecting the amortization period for insured mortgages pretty much had the same effect for conventional mortgages - amortizations decreased accordingly. This time round, it seems the lenders are split on this i.e. ING announcing 25 year amortizations for all mortgages and Scotia is still allowing 30 years for conventional mortgages.
