an i-pod brag
Normally I don't post in this section but I couldn't resist. This isn't even a "shopping" brag per se...more of a "gee am I ever glad I took good care of my stuff and didn't rush to constantly buy the newest toy" kind of brag.
6 years ago, my MIL bought me an i-pod nano (1st generation) for my birthday. At the time, they were THE hottest thing on the market. haha. My DH was SO jealous. When I first opened it up, I really had no idea what it even was or why it was great. DH practically climbed over the table to grab it out of my hands after I'd unwrapped it so he could oogle it because HE knew what it was. LOL. Anyway, after I became educated about the miracle of the i-pod, I loved it and used it ALL the time. (laugh all you want but I remember the 8-track player my parents had when I was little). Anyway, I loved the i-pod and guarded it with my life. I still have the original box and everything that goes with it.
About a year ago, I noticed the battery didn't hold a charge for very long anymore and I contemplated ordering a replacement battery on e-bay for it. But I got busy and forgot about it again. At Christmas, my DH tried to buy me a new one but the store kept running out of them. They were on sale for a good price just before Christmas but never in stock, it seems, so he ended up giving me the money instead and telling me to go get myself a new one. Again, I was too busy, got sidetracked by shiny things and totally forgot about it.
Then, Apple emails me telling me there has been a recall on the 1st gen i-pod nanos because of battery problems. Apparently they would heat up and explode. It was an issue only for the 1st gen i-pod nano.
Again, too busy to read the fine print or mess around so the email sits in my inbox for months and months.
Finally, summer holidays come and I'm jogging again and I decide I'd like some music to jog to. I locate a replacement battery on e-bay and just before I click to order it, I think, "hmmm. I should review that email I got from Apple." When I read the email. I learn they are replacing the affected units. So I contact Apple. Within 12 hours there's a UPS envelope at my door. Old i-pod goes in. 2 days later they contact me to tell me they are sending the new one out by UPS and it should arrive in 2 business days.
But I'm NOT getting a 1st gen i-pod nano back.
I'm getting a 6th gen i-pod nano instead.
I am so very excited...and so very glad I didn't rush out at Christmas to buy the new one. HA!

When procrastinating actually comes in handy!!!
So mad I threw out my 1st generation nano! Mine was basically the same way, wouldn't hold a charge by the end of it so we too went out around christmas (a few years back) and got a nice new shiny purple one.
