Measuring At Bulk Barn

I was wondering if anyone knew how much the scoop (the big ones) at bulk barn equaled to, in cups. I need to do a recipe, and need between 2 and 3 cups of everything. It'd be really helpful if the scoop equaled 1.5 or 2 cups.. but one can only wish, eh? :lol:

I need to know by tomorrow morning... :)

I think one of the scoops is 2 cups. I can't remember for sure. Just ask when you go in to be sure.

Just bring a measuring cup with you to bulk barn. People do this all the time, they don't mind and this way you can purchase only what you need.

You can also check out the weight of the dry goods you'll need and just weigh the product on the scales to make sure you've got enough. This is what I do when I know I need just a bit of something :)

Great idea I can't believe I never thought of that -- I get home sometimes and have either way to much of an ingredient or way too little!

Homemade bits and bites. We ended up getting the stuff at Giant Tiger, because we also needed bread and tomatoes, which we couldn't (sadly) but at Bulk Barn.
Imagine if they sold fruit and vegis? :shock:

I told my Mom I would do that, but she said they didn't like it, for sanitary purposes.

I wish we had a bulk food store in our small town.

i often refer to it as the fecal barn...everyone with their dirty hands picking stuff out of containers...blech

I guess we're lucky here...I've never witnessed anyone using their hands or sneaking snacks out of the bins. And there are enough staff around that I don't think they could be sneayk about it. And it's immaculately clean there.

As for using a measuring cup...

Our grandson has a peanut allergy and the thought that someone may measure peanuts before anything
else nearly set me catatonic for a minute there!! Good idea, btw! :)...with the bag!

I never put my cup into a bin, thats just not right. I take the scoop and fill my cup up with that, the cup of coarse in over my bag, when the bits start falling out of my cup and into my bag, I know I have the sufficient amount. I can't purchase anything for myself there due to my celiac disease, but I often get things for my family.

Bulk Barn has signs up to say don't exchange the scoops between the bins because of allergens. So geez never put your measuring cup in the bins. Always use a bag "condom" lol.
