Just be very careful with that pyrethine especially if you have allergy to ragweed because it is related to ragweed in the its natural form. It is a neurotoxin so wash your hands well after handling it and wash your product well.

Natural doesn't mean less harmful, arsenic is natural as well.

But, you are correct about the yellowing and falling of leaves due to drought. The only trees affected are the Birch and, not only my trees but all the Birch up along the road. It makes sense as I think they have a shallow root system and, up until yesterday, we were in desperate need of precipitation. Wish I had seen your post earlier as I was in tears panicking about the stoopid beetles .
I feel sorry for all the trees right now. I actually bit the bullet and stuck the hose at the base of the tree in our backyard for about an hour last night. Just a trickle so it wasn't running all over the place. It might not do anything about the leaves falling, but Im hoping to keep it alive!

If you google 'Rhubarb leaf natural pesticide', this may be something that would help. My parents make this spray and use it on their apple tree and the apples were absolutely wonderful this year - no bugs at all. We used the left over spray for our peach tree and this is the first year I wasn't dealing with bugs!
