I think this is my first rant but I am ticked, confused and insulted.
So I see this mysterious Direct Deposit on the 20th and it says CTC, ( Child Tax Credit? ) and I know I deliver Baby Bonus cheques usually around that day, but I'm thinking " no way, we never get that! "
O.K. so the reason I am ticked.
We have never qualified for baby Bonus ( well that was the old name I think) because apparently we are gazillionaires with so much income, we couldn't possibly have used any Government help when raising the kids.
Oh wait, there WAS a very small window of time when the Gov't did give DH and I around $22.00 each month ( FOR 3 KIDS ),
but it only lasted long enough for me to say sarcastically for a few months to DH " so which one of the kids eats this month?? ".
The insult is my " baby " turns 18 very soon, so isn't that the age the CTC ends??
If so, what a joke! Deny me when I sure could have use it when the kids were small and money was quite stretched and now offer me this time sensitive nugget of government assistance that really does not provide DD with much anyhow.
ok I'm done.
You know? I actually DO feel better now that I have ranted!

Yup, that would be the Child Tax Benefit. I just checked mine and it decreased by $100/month starting this month (that's $1200/year!!!) I guess I'll only feed one kid each month too!! LOL...

It ends in the month your child turns 18. Enjoy those dollars while you can, because then once your child files taxes for himself, he'll be able to get the GST credit.

I could be way way wrong here but CTC to me is Canadian Tire Company. Are you sure you didn't return something to the store and they put it back on your debit card?
Again... I could be reaching for the stars but that's where my mind is at.

Lucky777's the deposit reads Canada CTC, then the amount, plus I have not shopped at Can Tire for months, and I have not returned anything either. I kind of wish it had been that, less insult! lol

Nineteen to get it, but they can apply before, so they can start getting the credit right after they have their birthday. Otherwise, you have to wait for the next tax year to apply.
Found some info

oh yes! ty for that link. Now I remember that part because of when my DS with his Feb b'day and all. ( I had that age 19 number stuck in my head)
I will have to put that in a " reminder " memo for tax time next year when it applies to DD.

This is a really odd time for you to receive this. Is it possible you actually do qualify and they could possibly owe retroactive payments? If your income hasn't changed then there is definitely something wrong. Hopefully it is your favour. Good Luck
