Thread: Hornets HATE me! :(

I was driving back from Walmart & Lawtons on Friday night. I opened the window in my car since I reached town (no need to waste gas on air conditioning). Not even a minute after I open the window, a hornet flies in, lands between my thighs and stings me on my right leg. Good thing I was at the top of my street. Well that friggin' hurt.
This morning I wake up, see that my niece and mom and sitting on the swing out back behind my grandmother's house (she lives right next door). I'm walking over to see them and what do I do? STEP ON A HORNET!
That hurt even more than the first sting. I'm having NO luck with bugs this summer season. They are terrible. And they seem like they're getting worse every year. It's so frustrating when you try to do a simple task like drive or walk and you get stung. Good thing I'm not allergic, I'd be screwed.
Sorry, but that's my rant for the day. My poor toe is swollen.

Sorry you got a double sting.
Ouch.
I think at this time of the year, and with the crazy weather, the hornets are kinda drunk-like and not functioning too well.
I don't think they are after you -- unless you are a flower or smell like a flower

Is it just me, or do hornets ans wasps seem a lot meaner over the past few years? For years, the only time I got stunk, was as a child at the cottage. We were carrying a bunch of bottles to the store, I climbed the small fence as we were cutting around the lake and dropped my bag of bottles. The bag fell on a wasp nest, and they came flying out. I got stunk over 30 times. I don't remember a lot after that except waking up in the hospital. Have never been bothered again, until 2 years ago, got stunk just out of the blue, walking back to my car from a store. My grandchildren, dd's and spouses have all had issues last year and this year.
They are mean little buggars!!!!! I hope you feel better after your stings, they hurt like crazy and it's not nice. {{HUGS}}

Thanks everyone!
My toe isn't as swollen as it was yesterday, thank goodness.
I hope no one else gets stung by these terrible bugs!

Opening the windows causes you to waste gas as well. The wind resistance causes the car to push more. Most people think that opening windows is "free a/c"...Depending on your speed, you could lose as much gas as the A/C with the opened windows. Put the A/C on, but not on the coldest setting and reduce the fan speed.

I was trying to get fresh air because I didn't want to get an a/c cold (I get one at least once a year). I would have my windows open all the time but my hair is too thick and long and the wind blows in my face when I'm on the highway. So I open the window when I get into town and the speed slows down to 50. But this thread isn't about a/c in my car, it's about how hornets are getting worse and worse each year and they hurt when you get stung.

ouch!!
glad to hear the swelling has gone down!
I hate hornets. I stay AWAYYYY from them if I can. They have always been more agressive than other bees where I live. DH removed a hornets nest at the beginning of summer from the front of our house where we park our cars...! So glad we caught it early and removed it before it got crazy!!Getting back into trading - see my Trade and Wish Lists (under 'About Me' tab)
