I Hate It When People Can't Read!

UGH!:rant:

Ok as some of you may know I have placed a sign on my door that reads "If your selling anything we are not interested! Have a great day". Easy for anyone who understands how to read english right? WRONG!:angry9:

So this guy comes and knocks on our door and of course is selling stuff! I look at the guy and roll my eyes and I say to him.

"Can you read english?":shrug:

He looks at me funny and says "Of course"

I ask him "Do you have any vision problems?":shrug:

He than looks at me funny again and says "NO, my eye sight is great"

(Basically I am making sure I cover my bases before I start getting mad)

I than ask him "Did you see this sign? and are the words big enough for you to read it?":shrug:

He than says "UHHH yaaa"

Then I say "Well, that would be your answer to your question if I am interested in what your company sells! (Of course in a cocky voice) Have a great day!":biggrin:

Than I slammed the door as I usually do!

I have a "No peddlers, agents, or solicitors" sticker on my door in very clear view, and it's not tiny either, but they still ignore it. I recently typed up, printed out, and posted a sign on the inside of my screen door because it's become very bad with the religion and energy scams in my area. This is what my sign says:

No you cannot check our

• Hot water tank
• Furnace
• Air Conditioners
• Appliances
• Household bills including but not limited to Gas and/or Hydro

We are not interested in

• Buying your product
• Donating
• Religion
• Sales Spiels

By ignoring this notice provided as listed in the Trespass to Property Act R.S.O. 1990, c. T.21, s. 5 (1a &b), you can be prosecuted and fined including orders to pay costs of prosecution R.S.O. 1990, c. T.21, s. 12 (2)

I think I am going to take your idea and put the law action one up lol. Maybe than they will get it!

I know people have to make a living, but if you see a sign like that on someone's door, why would you even try? Like your wasting your time and the other person's time.

In my case, I typed up & put my sign up after one of those energy people came to my door & told me that they needed to check (not ASKING, but NEEDED) my furnace & air conditioners... like, um, what???

They are not rentals, they are personally owned in our home which we pay a mortgage on... you NEED to check them??

I know you mean! They did that to use to and my DH was like "Ummm please get off my property before I call the cops" the guy got the hint.

Your thread title should really say, "I hate when people can read, and choose not to." :)

These people can be very frustrating!

My bf invites all these annoying people in our home. Then it's up to me to be the "bad guy" and kick them out! Grrr!

LOL my DH doesn't let anyone in the house he or me don't know lol. He just says "Get off my property or I am calling the cops" Once he says "cops" than they usually leave quickly. Now If I get them first and not him, I play with them, make them feel really stupid than slam the door in their faces.

I usually let my german shepherd decide if they come in or not.... so far, the only persons that got approved on the spot were girl scouts selling cookies.http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/SU6B1319.gif

See, my husband is very agressive with people he doesn't like lol. With me, I am calm first, so they think they have someone who will not get mad, BUT, after I make them feel stupid than I get mad lol.

LOL I like the puppy idea lol. Maybe I should get one???

I live in an apartment, which is controlled entry and has the no solicitor signs on the doors, however those hydro energy scam assholes still manage to get in. They were just here last week, one came to my door and stuck his foot at the doorway after I opened the door and I was so tempted to slam it and break some of his toes.

going door to door for most people is the very last job available to them.it's a disgusting way to try and make a dollar so you can live.it's the only thing they have got going and trust me as soon as they can get out they will.
then there are the the ones that will do any thing to scam you and they relish it.
it's the companies that run these scams,it's a game of percentages.people quit,send out more,percentage wise you will close so many sales and the more people you have out there.the more the company makes.they don't give a about the guy knocking on doors and taking the flack.they want the contracts.

My Nana when she was alive was the best at getting rid of religious believers who would show up on her door. She was like me....believe in what you want as long as you are kind to others and don't shoot others over your religion etc. (And don't knock on her door.) Well, they wouldn't get one word out before she would tell them Satin rules and to get off her property. The she proceeded to slam the door and look at their reactions out the window.
