When DS is back to school and all those other six and seven year olds bring their new iPads, tablets, etc. to class with them saying that Santa brought them, I'll be explaining later that it wasn't actually Santa that got them but their parents. Unless there's a better explanation for why Santa brings expensive electronics for some kids and not others? :)
Still have some fallen branches/limbs on the ground in two spots. The two menfolk at home have yet to burn a calorie to collect what's left to move.
So I did a second round of collecting/stacking branches today and will play possum when the meltoff occurs on Saturday (not into mud much during yardwork).
Thankless people.
Maybe it's just me with this pet peeve. Whenever someone sends me a Christmas, birthday gift, no matter how little or small, I always thank them. I try to phone within a few days. However, I have a few family members, who never say thanks. Yet I always buy what they ask for, (within monetary reason), from a list they give me. If a person doesn't like the gift I realize it may be awkward. I know they received the gift because they tell me it arrived or give it to them in person wrapped.
Okay not the biggest thing to **tch about. Worse things going on in the world.
Lack of manners I guess.
Tomorrow I'm going to an all ages venue with a 19+ area (thank god) .... Alone. I'm so excited and nervous and anxious I might just pass out.
Edit* So I bailed on my concert and sold my ticket on stub hub for $50 less than I paid for. Womp
went out boxing day shopping hopeful to come home with new clothing like i usually do.. and came home with 4 rolls of wrapping paper.. sales sucked
Overeating because holiday food is just so delicious.. i know I should stop but I dont.
Then spend half the night in the washroom because it won't digest properly. :(
Snowing again... sigh. Trees looks so heavy covered in all that ice and snow, hope they make it through. Hoping I mentally survive this already-too-long-winter!!! Bring on the lazy days of summer with its' bare toes, dresses without tights, cocktails in the shade by day & sounds of frogs by night.
I agree. I went to Old Navy for the buy one get one for 1.00 sale and almost everything was full price! Even stuff that was marked down last week was back up to full price. The sale is much better online where not only is stuff on sale but there's an extra 30% off until tonight.
I got a blackberry play book for Christmas and don't really know what to do with it
Well, my kids' school does not left them bring electronics at school, so, I hope your kids' school follow same rules ;),
If not maybe you can explain that santa did a mistake because those electronics are gift for parents.....( and they left their childs to use them :) ) because dads and sons have same name.....
We went through this last year(except my dd was 9, not 6/7) she really wanted an iPod for Christmas last year but we didn't feel she was responsible enough for a new one. When she went back to school her whole class was bragging about getting iPhones/iPods/iPads/laptops/the newest video game systems etc, and she came home questioning why Santa brought her class this stuff and not her(although I think some of the kids were making it up to feel better about they did/didn't get because they were the kids without winter jackets/boots etc and as a parent wouldn't the priority be on making sure your child is warm as opposed to making sure they had the latest electronics?). We just told her that Santa doesn't bring electronics because they elves only knew how to make toys and she seemed ok with that.
This year she doesn't believe in Santa anymore and did get an iPod for Christmas, but someone's always going to have(or say they have) something the kids think is better.
My 5 year old nephew cried after opening the 2 Lego sets that my mom bought him ($150 worth), saying he didn't want Lego when apparently that was all he had asked for. On the other hand, my sister's boyfriend's 7 year old daughter opened her Nintendo DS from my mom (the original, not 3D or anything), hugged it to her chest, and said "I'm SO lucky!" with the biggest smile on her face. Pretty clear who the spoiled ones are!
