What is the best way to get corn off the cobs?

We just bought a big sack of corn. Now I want to cook them,cut off the corn and freeze. What's the easiest way to get the corn off the cobs?

One more question....Do you first cook the corn then cut it off the cobs? or, do you first cut it off then cook the corn?

I haven't personally used it, but I've seen it used and it works very well....probably any kitchen store should have it....

i just use a sharp knife.. i do this too every september and freeze what we'll need for the winter. :)

Best way to contain the corn is to use a bundt pan - put the tip of the cob in the centre hole, then when you cut off the kernels, they go in the pan. It steadies the corn cob, so easier to do that just hold it in a bowl.

Its best to blanch the corn and not fully cook it before freezing. After you blanch it, place it in cold water. I love to buy lots of corn and freeze it, instead if paying 3 bucks a bag where I live.
