What? Canada is number 1 from the G20 for women?
But, but... I thought Harper destroyed our country!?

i'm not saying i agree or disagree with the order the countries are in but...
why are they not all showing the same stats for comparison in that ad? why is it always the most shocking sounding stats that are shown, and in a way where it means nothing to the reader in terms of having a decent grasp on truly comparing what they are seeing.
in all honesty, i think standards for women in north america are pitiful. yes we work our buts off outside the home, and we can screw around with a reduced risk of becoming pregnant, but does that mean we are significanty better off?
our girls have low standards of self worth, they still get targeted, pimped, hit, oggled etc. we are still expected to take on the brunt of the homemaking and child raising responsibilities while working out butts off outside the home.
i do understand the point of this list. it's not the last word on anything. it is an interesting comparison of what we view as leading(?) countries.
i just wish they didn't try to use the 'shock' approach, and let ppl see more facts side-by-side. that is something i would be really interested in reading. In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

That was interesting. Thanks!
I think I'd sooner take my chances in India than in Saudi Arabia though.

Maybe Canada doesn't have any statistics that are nearly as shocking? I do see your point it would be nice to see a more comparative analysis, but female infanticide, sex slaves and trafficking, and maternal death rates are more daunting than anything I as a woman have ever experienced living in North America.
It also demonstrates what other women in these 'prosperous' countries still have to overcome to have the same quality of life we enjoy here in Canada. Maybe we're at the 'final' steps of equality dealing with the little things, like getting men to do housework and partake in childcare (not saying they aren't important, but again I can deal with these over the sex trade goin' on in Russia).

Oh my goodness....Poorer countries do worse that richer countries....pass me my smelling salts while I faint..
This is news why???
It's pure common sense...Once we start to enable women and girls to their true potential then things change...and yet at the same time we need to educate men to not be threatened by educated ladies..it's not an either/or position...
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
