Did you, or do you know someone, who took their child overseas and had them get additional vaccinations over and above their current vaccines just b/c they where traveling?
The reason why I ask is that I am taking ods (he'll be 7 at the time of travel) to Cuba, and I am wondering whether or not getting him the Hepatitis A & B as well as the Tetanus shot would be worth it. He's up to date on all his vaccinations. At his 7 yr check up, I'll be discussing this with our family Dr., but I also wanted others points of view too. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

You are in SW Ontario.
Call Middlesex London public health.
The communicable disease nurses can tell you what you need.
They are doing clinics now for back to school (students who can't go in September because they are not up to date) so they can probably fit you in.
Travel clinics also have the info you need.

i have always vaccinated as advised when traveling.
we aren't exposed to hepatitis as much in Canada. being up to date for routine vaccines within Canada does not mean you are protected against other sicknesses.
if a certain place is known for having dirty water, lax sanitation regulations, poor health coverage to cure ppl with certain transmittable diseases, do you really want to expose yourself?
hepatitis is fairly serious, you want to be protected. tetanus vaccination is somewhat routine in Canada, so you shouldn't feel the need to be overly cautious.
don't wait too long to decide, you need some time to get all your shots, because hap vaccine requires multiple shots, spaced out after specific lengths of time.In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts
