So I have moved out of my house and have to have it empty SOON.
I still have an old TV (non-working) and a sofa (with torn cushions) to get rid of.
Does anyone have any suggestions of the easiest and cost efficient way to do this?
I looked on the Got Junk website but it overwhelmed me.
Thanks. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Try taking a pic of all the stuff and listing it on kijiji or usedwinnipeg.com as free - should be able to get most of it gone. Non working tv you can take to an electronic recycle depot (theres one off Marion/Traverse that I know of). Good luck.

My problem is the transport. But it is good to know about the recycle depot. At least it is close.

We used Got Junk and it wasn't worth it. The price they quoted vs the price they charged was different. We complained to the manager and got the price reduced, but it still didn't match the quote
Have you tried looking in your area paper for people who advertise picking up junk? sometimes they charge per load and it is more reasonably priced.

Try kijiji, there are people on there advertising to pick up junk. When my washer and dryer broke down I found an ad for people who pick up appliances for free (for scrap metal) and just gave them the address, put them outside and that was it!

I think you can contact the city about pickup of the sofa and any other large items. They may charge you a little, but it would be nowhere near the price of a junk removal company taking it away. The television would likely need to be taken to an electronics recycling depot.

I think the cost of that is $10. I remember reading that somewhere, but I could be wrong....

$10 for a load full to the dump - pretty sure we paid $20 last year for them to pick up a old sofa - was not worth it

I left a very old TV out and they took it in the garbage truck. (the kind with the cabinet). Sometimes the garbage men will pick up if you catch them.

I used to just put stuff out and it would be gone, but that was before the bins...

Thanks everyone. The TV was the hard one. Didn't work. Talked some strong backs into loading it in my car and was able to bring to the recycle. The couch, someone actually wanted...who knew???
I love KIJIJI....
