I must be the exception.
I tried this and did not like it.
It did not smell good, the smell kept bothering my nose.
By the time the family got home they started sneezing like crazy.
Had to open the windows to air the smell out.
I've always used tide free, then last year I tried Purex when I got coupons for it, we are ok with that.
But wont use A&H again even at nearly free it's not worth the rewashing and the reaction to it.

It gets the job done. Nothing overly amazing. If you have some serious stains, it's not going to remove them. I find it OK. Nothing exceptional.

I have a jug on the go now and 1 on my shelf. I don't mind the smell but I do prefer the really nice smelling stuff (gain mango tango etc). I have noticed however, that the a&h doesn't remove hard stains very well. dd2 is drawn to every mud puddle within a 5 mile radius and I can't get the stains out with the a&h.
When life hands you lemons, make a lemon pie... lemonade will be all like WTH?!?

I got a HUGE bottle of it on sale at Loblaws and it lasted forever. I dont think it leaves a strong smell either so if you dislike that detergent smell could be the one for you.

I bought a few bottles. They're okay I guess, I prefer laundry detergents to leave stronger scents.

I have pretty much one of at least everything in my laundry cupboard.
I prefer the fruity scent of Gain Mango Tango, so that's what I generally use. But I honestly find the only difference from one detergent to the next is scent.
My dad uses A&H for his work clothes - he works on a farm and does some mechanical work, so his clothes tend to be very dirty and stained, compared to my clothes which just go through regular daily wear.
We have a top load washer - not HE. No fabric softener is used during wash, as we use laundry sheets. We do tend to add some oxy to heavily soiled clothes.
Just a warning for those deciding to make their own laundry soap: make sure you grate the bar soap very fine and that it is a bar soap that easily dissolves. There have been cases of buildup in pipes because the soap doesn't dissolve.

I like A&H. The only laundry products that have bothered my nose are snuggle sheets, the smell is just way too strong.
I've tried most kinds of A&H and have never had an issue with any of them.

I have very sensitive skin, tide and dryer sheets leave a painful tiny pimple-like rash on my chest area. A&H does not, also, take a look at the ingredients comparing two bottles...A&H is amazingly more simplified in its development as a compound.

If you don't like the scent they have a fragrance-free sensitive skin version.
