The Ultimate in BARGAINING!!

My husband is one of the BEST guys in the world. He works very hard to make sure that both our boys and I have the best of everything. For the last few months we had been looking into trading in my 2009 Dodge Journey RT for something brand new. We wanted something brand new, the same size, with all the same features as our current vehicle BUT we didn't want to pay even a penny more every month. We had gone to several dealerships and everyone kept telling us our payments would be an extra $200 a month, making them almost $700 a month :eek:.
I had given up hope, when we got a phone call from our Dodge dealership saying that they had a private sale going on and that they wanted us to come in for some special pricing. I was very skeptical. I told the guy we had tried several times recently and it was all a waste of time, no one was able to get the payment low enough and I was not willing to pay anything more a month. I let the guy go and right away my dh asked me who I was talking to. Before I knew it my husband called the dealership back and was speaking to the sales guy. He explained our situation and the guy said he would call him back. 10 minutes later the sales guy called back and said that we should definitely come in and that they would work something out. As my husband didn't want to waste his time he told the guy he would come in the next day but was only giving him 15 minutes.
After about an hour :lolsign: of negotiating they finally got the payment down to $50 less a month than I was paying and he got them to reduce the price of the vehicle over $5,000. Now I have a brand new 2012 Dodge Journey RT!!! Plus they included a free life time oil change card, and a $100 GC to The Keg.
Thanks to my amazing dh and his great bargaining skills I have a new fantastic vehicle and we're paying less money!!

Great shopping. What a great husband. He knows the value of a good deal too. We are in the process of buying a Dodge too. But so far the prices are too high or the trade in value sucks. Maybe we will swing up your way. Might have better luck with that Dodge dealership:)

Great!!! I have great bargainning skills and I am sure they will put in good use for the future...Just yesterday I helped a friend and this landlord save a bunch of money for door hanger...

I think when dealerships have a lot of 2012 inventory left and are trying to bring in 2013s, they are more willing to deal. August can be a good time. October is even better if they still have lots of 2012s left. Some play games but some are willing to work with you. OP and her DH found a dealership with salespeople/managers that were willing to make a deal and not play games.:)

We had 2 great salesmen helping us. We bought my first Journey at the end of Sept 2009, we did get a good deal on it then.
