Forgot to say, the Colgate Optic White, 85g, is 1.99 and there is a $1 printable from websaver. I got 4 of them.

I bought 12 Cadbury bars ($2 each and no coupons , but Cadbury is our brand and we go through about 2 bars a week), 3 blocks of cheese and 2 bottles of ketchup (seriously, weirdest SDM shopping list I've ever had) for a subtotal of $51.05+3.59tx = a grand total of $54.64. Cashed in 25,000 points and paid $4.64 OOP. Earned 24,010 points. So basically, I used 990 points for $50 of loot. I'm pretty happy with that!
I always forget that you can usually buy 4 of the same item. Thanks for the reminder. I bought 4 chocolate bars 3 times and then had enough points for a 95,000 point redemption. I got a PS3 that ended up being $189. I was not expecting the $50 gift card mentioned in the flyer to be $50 off the PS3 so I ran around and grabbed 2 bread, 3 lays chips and 3 bags of milk, and of course 4 more chocolate bars to get to 220.81.

Total ended up being .81 plus tax of 26.51 = $27.32

    What fun!

There are $1 off coupons in the fabulous 50 years magazine too - they are found at the entrance

I understand totally! We all plan and work so hard to accumulate Optimum points - it would suck tremendously to gamble with them and lose. Even after I had done the transaction and had posted my receipt, I thought "what if it only works for me?! I'll feel terrible!!" I'm happy that so many other people have had success with the bonus points!

Sounds like most people are redeeming the 25000 to get $50 off.. and they then buy 12 chocolate bars and whatever else to make up the $50 off and end up getting 24000 back just from the bars.. and then whatever else they buy..

Some people did 24 bars to get the 48000 points back and only spending the 25000!

I wish I could go tomorrow. Probably won't happen! My daughter and I have been sick. At least the sale is on till the 23rd so I can get some bonus points

If anyone goes for the Cadbury on Sunday morning I'd be curious to see whether you still get bonus points if you redeem. I think that somehow SDM might change its mind

My guess is it's because they are Bonus Points, not regular points. So like was posted above, if you wanted to redeem 25,000pts for $50, you could buy 12 chocolate bars, which gives you 24,000BP at $24 and then you still have $26 to spend!

It is very tempting, but I'm going to skip it

    A) to save my waistline , and
    B) because SDM has previously been known to rake back points when things are too good to be true.

I have been buddy buddies with a manager at my SDM. She helps me with my 20x day where all my FPCs goes in as 2001 so I get points.

Today was awesome. She saw DD and my cart full of chocolates and gum. We started chatting and I told her about the 8000 BP WUB gum or chocolate. She said that is a good deal. Asked me if I wanted more because no one is buying and they keep receiving shipment and the back is full of chocolate. She wants to get rid of them and happy that I'm buying them. I said great, I will help you get rid of them. We did 4x95000 redemptions with 48 various chocolate and gum on each transaction. Redeem 95000 points and get back 96000 points.

I agree. I don't think SDM wants customers to walk in with 25,000 points and walk out with 24 free chocolate bars and an additional 23,000 points. That's not exactly good for business.
