Found my Bday present .. what to do ...

DF has this annoying habit of stuffing so much garbage into his pockets.. then he comes home at night and dumps it all over tables and desks.. the other night, I saw him do it and I was like really ?? Just put it in the garbage.. and he's like : well i don't know what it is ( ... uh ... look !?!?!)
So this morning i'm cleaning and I'm picking up his nighttable. and lo and behold.. there's the receipt for my birthday present.. and since it's jewelry, there's a picture on it Not only do I know what it is now.. but I know he got something that doesn't match the rest of my jewelry.. i have all white gold engagement ring, other ring, medicalert bracelet.. and he got yellow gold little hoop earrings.
My bday is dec 3.. what would you do ?

I'd drop a few hints about how much I like white gold. Hopefully that'll be enough. lol

Otherwise I'd wait until I opened it. If it is yellow gold I'd simply tell him how much I love the style but don't think I'd get to wear them much because they are yellow. If he didn't offer to exchange, I'd ask if they come in white gold and would he be insulted if I exchanged them.

I've had to exchange things DH has gotten me but I've always explained why and that I love the style/idea/size (just something about the gift) and the thought.

pretend you didn't see the receipt (make sure you keep it in a place you'll remember and can tell him that he left it), accept the gift on your birthday...then ask him if he can exchange it for a colour (white gold or silver) that matches the rest of your jewelry.

agreed, he probably should have known better, but a lot goes through a guy's mind when he' buying for his lady...

I did something similar with our anniversary present last week.
I got the lady a business card holder from Tiffany... I was looking online and in store and was getting quite frazzled. After opening it, I could tell she wasn't overly thrilled with it, so I told her we could look online for something she would like better and I'd go exchange it. Turns out there was one we found that we both liked, and suited her style better...guess in my mini-panic in store I missed seeing the one we ended up exchanging for.

I sooo should've done that.. i texted him at work and told him i found my present receipt lol.
I could test the waters and see how he feels about an exchange..

I already asked him in spring to exchange my engagement ring ..
I had shown him like 50000 rings to show the style i liked and the poor guy went to get something else for some unknown reason.. he wasn't too thrilled but he understood i was gonna wear it all my life and had to be happy with it.

I got her input, and did the rest on my own.

I actually had one custom made with aspects of each that she liked, so her ring is a one of a kind original.

definitely talk to him about an exchange...afterwards.

That is what fiance did as well...he took me in January to look he said he needed to know what my ring size was (it was the wrong size when he asked and I had to wait 3 weeks for it to get fitted haha) but he remembered everything I lied about certain rings etc

Simple answer? Tell him you found the receipt by accident when you were cleaning up. Kills two birds with one stone: clean up the mess from your pockets and it doesn't match so can I exchange it please lol
