store GC and 20x the points question

Im very excited about the rumoured 20x the points on March 26. I have a question though. Yesterday I got a 10 GC from shoppers as part of their promotion. How can I use it on 20x the point. For example will it be treated like a coupon (so for example if I buy $50 I pay 40$ and STILL get the points)? or should I buy 60$ and pay 50$ just to be sure to get the points

It works the same as cash.

You will need to spend $60 if you want to use that promotion gift card. With those SDM special gift cards, it's treated like coupon, not cash.

My cashier warned me that the $10 GC/coupon from the promo last week is scanned into the cash and is treated as a discount - not a coupon. Therefore, it does not get entered as 2001 and you will likely not get any points.

we seem to have on/off problems with the GCs sometimes they are a discount, others as cash so I never risk it (but its rare I do a GC promo)

I guess I will buy for 60 bucks...bah! SDM makes things complicated at times

I just used my $10 SDM "gift voucher" and it rang in as a discount on the receipt. I still got the base points for the $10 and would assume that I would have received 20x the points if I used it on Saturday. I can't say with 100% certainty though...
