Justin Trudeau's style and likeability will likely out-weigh his inexperience
Quote:
There are many differences between Justin Trudeau, Stephen Harper and Thomas Mulcair — the most important may be that Trudeau is personally liked by a large segment of the population. What he has in common with them, though, is that he is also disliked.
But that comes with the territory of being a politician, a vocation that means being distrusted and vilified. Rare is the politician who has personal appeal and charm and is not merely tolerated for being better than the other options on the ballot.
Being likeable is a vote-winner. Jack Layton, Barack Obama and even George W. Bush are just a few recent examples of that. It cannot be something voted into a party platform or built up from the grassroots level.
^^I'm counting on it. I expect him to suck a lot more votes away from the NDP than he will from the Conservatives.

First....he hasn't "officially" said he will run for Leadership has he? Hasn't it just been, "confirmed liberal sources?"
Second, I did read all of the comments here and find them interesting. For me I see alot of people (not just here but in my political discussions) that can NOT for the life of them seperate the name Pierre Trudeau and Justin Trudeau. Now while I understand that on a human nature level, the fact is that by saying a person wouldn't vote for Justin because they hated Pierre is doing a diservice to yourself and your Country. I don't mean that as (people have to vote for Justin lol) I mean that as in, aren't you voting/not voting for the wrong reasons if you won't vote for one guy or will ONLY vote for the other because of a mans Father?
Moving on from that, I hear the argument that he's too young and inexperienced. He's a full grown adult who has been groomed for politics. He's 40 something isn't he? It's interesting because people say someone 60 heading a party and potentially running for PM is too old and 40 is too young. So what's the "golden" age? 50? lol He'll be there shortly.
I believe that Justin A) Can't do any worse than Bob Rae, B) Will definitely get the younger vote because he actually takes the time to connect with the younger voters unlike some current politicians. C) Will bring new life to the Liberal Party. D) THAT HAIR!!!! lol
Oh and Patty, regarding Mulcair: I loved Jack, I loved his platform and *gasp* I voted NDP, but here's the thing with me: I don't believe in Party Loyalty. Party leaders, platforms and directions change and guess what? If an election were called tomorrow I'd be hardpressed to vote for the NDP (would have to see their platform) because I do not like Mulcair or the direction he's taking things. Personally I feel he exudes an arrogance like Harper and that to me is a no-go.
