Saw this when getting ready for school; amazing how she was able to turn it into a positive message, meanwhile most people would've just given the writer only a blast of crap! Kudos to her!

A few people posted this on FB yesterday - I loved it! What an excellent response to a very rude and hurtful thing to say. Just because someone is in the public eye this person thinks he has the right to openly critique a complete stranger.

Its very easy for ppl to be bullies when they are behind a computer screen. Shame on the person who wrote that, perhaps they should take a look at there own life before deciding to pick on others!

I really appreciate her message and how she points out that fatism is a form of aggression and bullying, just like the better-known and less socially acceptable bullying that comes in the form of sexism, racism, classism, etc.

It takes real courage to stand up on television and address these issues, especially when they were part of a personal attack. I've never heard of her before, but I certainly respect her now.

I do not work at either of those positions and yet I am quite capable of writing a perfectly well structured letter with the correct spelling and grammer. I know lots of people who are able to write in that way without being an acedemician or a politican. It's probably more a function of his age rather than any-other quality about him. Well, except that he appears to be somewhat of a misogynist as I doubt he would have sent a similar letter to Rush Limburgh about the same subject.

And yes, what an amazing responce. She took a personally hurtful letter and turned it into a positive message which she sent to every-one.

This made me deal with a somewhat ironic dilemma today - when I went on FB today, one of my nieces had it posted, and one of my older sisters reposted it (is that the right term?).

Well, that sister bullied me unmercifully about my weight since I was a teen - and gave me an especially hard time through my 20s and into my 30s... (for those of you who read about our problems in the Chat thread recently, yes, it's THAT sister)

It took ALL my inner strength to not post something on her page about it....

Very sorry you endured that. I think them folks who do that, probably hurt inside. My sister ironically, used to tease me about being gay (I'm not) when I was a teen, and now she is one of those people who added 'Homophobe' to her vocabulary to describe everyone who does not agree with her.

Oh well, what can I do?
