I was told that Tim's went into the speciality drink category as the markup is huge , as the cost and time to make them is not a whole lot different than making regular coffee , its just a few pennies more.
For example if it costs them 25 cents to make a reg coffee and they sell it for $ 1.00 , then the same coffee if they make it speciality like cafe mocha etc , it will now only cost them 35 cents , but now they can sell it for $ 2.00 ..so its a crazy markup for them now

Hey! I work at Timmies and just wanted to clarify a few things. First, the Latte. It SHOULD be milk, than espresso coming from the machine. The cappuccinos are also on sale, which have more espresso in them. Also, any of the flavoured or supremes, you are still paying the dollar, than the price difference for adding eh whipped cream and/or flavour shots, etc.
If you are getting a flavoured one, make sure they add the sugar (unless you don't want it, but the flavour shots tend to be bitter without sugar or sweetener, just as vanilla extract would be). The sugar should automatically be added to a flavoured one unless you ask them not to, but there are so many different rules for different things that sometimes people get confused and forget.
