Can't buy a SDM Gift Card with an Optimum CC?

I just came from SDM and tried to buy a SDM gift card with my Optimum CC as I usually do and the cashier said we don't allow that anymore, only cash or debit. Is this true or could it maybe be just for that store? If it is true nationwide I am trashing the CC.

It's not true at all. I always buy GCs with my Optimum CC with no problem. That store made its own rule, try a different SDM.

Its up to the store.
Its likely that store has been burned by a stolen credit card in the past.
Try another SDM

Most stores post a note stated that only Cash/debit card are allow to buy other GC, but most manager would allow you buy the SDM GC with a CC...if you run into problems, either talk to the manager or go to another store. SDM are independently owned, so they DO make their own rules, unfortunately.

Ask the cashier to call the supervisor and have the card authorized.

If you pay by credit card, you could turn around and do a stop payment after the transaction has already gone through, and the merchant is screwed out of however many dollars. Really it's out of good faith and nothing more that they let people buy gift cards with credit, or phone minutes. Almost everyone has stopped allowing the sale of prepaid visas/mastercards by credit.

Talk to a manager if you have any problems and they should be able to straighten it out for you.

Just to conclude, I bought the gift card at another store and will just avoid that store for buying gift cards in the future.
