I had agreed to the salary in an email, but now thinking back, i think it's actually below the average for an Analyst position in Default.

Email acceptance is pretty much considered to be an acceptance in writing in todays digital world, even more so than a verbal agreement.

I concur; when I was hiring new employees who initially accepted the offer given, but then attempted to negotiate after, I let them know that I was unable to renegotiate their request (because requisitions to HR must have the rate supplied when attempting to hire, and it's not that easy to change, but this is not information that I would give them) and then ask them to let me know if they were still interested in the position, otherwise I thank them for their time.Quote:

Edit to add after seeing your update: This would not have sat very well with the company I worked for if a present employee tried to renegotiate an offer after the fact and would unfortunately drag itself with you through your employment with them.
I guess i can't undo what i did... i guess i will avidly look outside of the organization

yes, there is a slight increase..i've learned my lesson for next time to keep that in the back of my head to not accept when i've thought it through thoroughly.
paperclipc I can understand your issue. Similar thing happened here, I was negotiating for my first job and never was in a position to negotiate. I know now for other times things that I would do differently. That being said, I know with my position, there is an opportunity with a yearly review to get a wage increase. So in a years time I may be able to get a small increase which is something. Perhaps the same thing is available to you?
If you work in the job for a year, or if your company does annual performance appraisals, you could negotiate for a raise at that time. But going back on your acceptance at this point would be very unprofessional.
performance reviews are done end of nov early dec. if i got an increase now, do you think i will get another increase when it's review time??
this is my first full time job, can't believe i've been there 6.5 yrs! sometimes i wish i had held several jobs, just for the experience of interviews, negotiating, and the possibility of finding that perfect job.

You may or may not get a small increase at review time. They may want to wait until the 1 year review. If you have access to the company policies, take a look.
