Free paint! And more
I love to refinish furniture, and repurpose stuff. A crib from kijiji turned into 2 drying racks hanging in my laundry room.
I went to the hazardous waste depot on Wed and scored 3 brand new cans of paint from the recycle program. You have to check out your local hazardous waste depot info, for what days they offer, free of charge, all the different cleaning products, paint/finish/stripper, fuel (lamp and camp and citronella torch) and whatever else they see as reuseable. LOVE IT.
I found a free Duncan Phyfe dining set last month, and love its lines, but it has a ton of damage to the finish on the table top... so the french provincial blue (from the waste depot) is going on the table and 4 chairs and my ugly old china cabinet, then I'll follow it up with a few coats of the bright red (from the waste depot), distress it all with sandpaper/sanding blocks, detail the grooves with dollarama gold paint, then top with a lightly stained varathane for protection (inherited from Grampa's garage). Total cost for a new "antique" dining room set= $5 ($1 for the gold paint, $4 worth of dollarama sanding blocks).
The other stuff scored at the waste depot were a new can of sky blue bath and spa paint for my kids bathroom, a darker stain/protector for outdoor use (or perhaps some flooring near the door) and a tiny bottle of lamp oil. I brought a freind and she had picked out 6 cans (new and full).
The only down side is that not all the cans were marked with the colours they held! lol I grabbed a few nice looking cans and figured if I hated the colour I'd be back soon enough to return them (free of charge!). Oh, and it got crowded fast.

Nice score!
I got 2 cans of pretty nice colored paint at Walmart this weekend for $3 each. They are mistints... maybe for someone else they were, but for me, they are perfect! I just bought a house that needs to be painted from top to bottom!!
