I personally love Hallowe'en just for an opportunity to be a bit artistic, and I love seeing what other creations people think of for their pumpkins. So I thought we could all show off our pumpkins and try to inspire each other.

This year I decided not to carve pumpkins, so I bought some white pumpkins and painted them instead.

After completing these a few weeks ago, I decided I did want to carve some pumpkins, we're in an area that got hit by the Hurricane and there wasn't much else to do, so I carved this:

So now its your turn fellow SC's, Show off your pumpkins!

haha, I had a few friends ask me to do theirs too. I find it weirdly calming..

I am particularly fond of the 'shaving' technique, which is the 'bars' on the carved pumpkin - you can get so much detail and depth. I've seen a few online combining painting and 'shaving'... so eager to try it next year.

well I did try the stacking snowman style with 3 pumpkins, took pics yesterday and now the camera cannot load into my computer ( no drivers available with this Kodak camera for XP...whatever DH says it is all technical gobbledeegook to me. No pics is all I heard.

I did glue some awesome bulging eyes onto very small decorative pumpkins ( about the size of large grapefruits) and carved a wavy mouth out. They are cute.

    so frustrating without the pics.

OP!! I love your pumpkin art work!!

Are you using a dremel to carve. I find thats the best way. I didn't get to do one this year as we've been traveling and not to much time, but last year I did several disney characters for my grandchildren. Ever since I learned my dremel was a great pumpkin carving tool as well, I wat to carve anything, lol.

No dremel here! All hand shaving using different 'tools' and items I've found that work. lol I can be a bit inventive with what I use as a 'tool' lol

Those are absolutely awesome; you are quite the artist!

My son (21) did our pumpkins - very basic faces.... the seeds are roasting now!

The pumpkins he got had very thick walls - very unusual, hadn't seen that before.

I've had a few that had thick walls, then I learned to 'knock' on them to hear how hollow they sounded, much easier! I think the thick walls may have been why I started shaving instead of carving. lol

And thank you for the compliment. I have a lot of fun with it.

Dh did a big pumpkin as a ninja turtle for ds1 and a mini pie pumpkin as Winnie the Pooh for ds2. He created both patterns himself by hand then carved them.
