As for ING, I think I will keep using the chequing account, but will open a People's trust for the savings (1.80%) and use their TFSA 3% until ING ranks up their rates!

Tangerine, forward banking... Not sure it appeals to the male population with a brand name like tangerine....

They can call themselves Tomato, Orange or whatever fruit or veggie they like, as long as they continue to offer a free chequing account I won't complain :)

The good news is that Tangerine clients we will be able to access Scotiabank ATMs in 2014 and Aceto mentioned that a credit card is in the works.

This is the first I'm hearing of this. That's a shame they had to change their name.
But I also didn't know Scotia was Canadian (solely) so that makes me happy. ING was Netherlands ... I believe.

I agree that they needed to keep the orange colour-theme/brand, but I am not sure a citrus fruit was the way to go.

I hope they keep

• no fee banking
• promotions for high interest rate savings
• the Orange key referral $$ (or "tangerine" key:cheesygrin:)
• Thrive chequing

I hope that they don't add Scotia bank fees

Much will depend on whether the bank mandarins (could not resist the pun) want to merge the two bank styles into Scotia style or wish to keep the two styles going for now.
