Below is an email I received form Consumer Protection BC:

Fees on milk container recycling in BC

All of us here at Consumer Protection BC would like to remind you that BC consumers should not be charged deposit fees on milk containers. We've recently become aware that Shell Canada locations in British Columbia have been charging consumers additional fees since September 24, 2012 when purchasing milk containers -- we've been assured by Shell that they will be refunding consumers, whether or not they have a receipt.

For more information and tips about purchasing milk in British Columbia, please refer to this recent news item.

If you have been charged a fee on your milk container and the issue has not been resolved by the business, please contact Consumer Protection BC at 1-888-564-9963 or email [email protected].
