Marketplace
Did anyone watch Marketplace yesterday. It was about how filthy hotel rooms are and it was pretty disturbing. Showed a cleaner in one of the rooms cleaning a toilet bowl with the toilet brush then used the same brush to clean the sink, counter and taps!!

Ewwwwwwww,we stayed at a hotel in Edmonton by the west Edmonton mall, when we got in our room I pulled the blanket back as I was going to take a nap, there was a gigantic wet spot on the sheets,we complained and they gave us a better room,we then went to the mall and when we got back at night I lifted the toilet it was full of crap[right full] and about a roll of toilet paper,we got another room,
I also live by the great west motel on Iydwyld drive Saskatoon, last year they replaced some beds the beds that were in the garbage were the dirtiest beds I have ever seen in my life as was all the furniture they threw out, when we go to a hotel now I bring plastic sheet covers.
-
The motel with the dirty beds looks like a clean motel and is all redone, misleading for sure.
-
Saw it. Ubelievably gross.
-
I have enough trouble traveling and staying at hotels as it is. I don't think I'd ever travel again if I watched it, even though I know deep down how filthy they truly are.
-
Watched it as well. Truly gross. I will for sure be packing some lysol wipes next time I have to go out of town on business.
Maybe my own pillow and sheets just to get a good nights sleep!

Nuts! I'm in a cheap motel right now north of Denver and right next to a trucker stop and strip club! This info is not what I wanted to read right now lol!
-
Vesper that's ironic and sad at the same time way!
-
Don't watch Hotel Hell by Gordon Ramsey then , Vesper.
-
Saw it too. Checked the virtual room and the Fairmont was highest on a few. Really surprised. Paying more for a hotel doesn't mean it's cleaner!
and the maid using the same cloth for the toilet and the sink? the bodily fluid on the wall? EWWWWWW
I told DH after watching this that I will ALWAYS carry Lysol wipes when we have to stay in a hotel. Everything will be wiped (remote, phone, knob, EVERYTHING)
and we're not walking bare foot on the carpets!
Here's the link to the survey
http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/episod...onhotels1.html
it lists all the hotel names, their scores, gives some tips, etc

Higher end places are much more clean. I know a guy who owns a hotel in moose jaw and it is his pride that the place is spotless. I'm cheap... I stay at $29 rooms :). Unless clients are paying... Then $250!

For years, whenever we are checking into a hotel, I request to see the room first. the first think I do is pull ALL the covers and sheets off the bed, with them standing right there. They get all red in the face and start saying they are so very sorry if the mattress is all discusting. The end result, usually an upgrade to their best rooms (and even some of those have issues)
I don't do this for the upgrades though, that show is either a remake or rerun of one I saw years ago, and after watching it, given the fact that my husbad and I travel a lot, I just got in the habbit of doing it.
Even if we are off on an All Inclusive Vacation, I do it. I refuse to pay good money and chance catching something (with all my other health issure) to sleep in some disgusting room.
