So I have been thinking all day today the types of things I will have to prepare myself for as DS starts JK in Sept. I am wondering if any parents will share their experience with Mabels Labels. I am considering buying these for school type items instead of doing it old school with a sharpie marker. Are they durable? Come off once applied to surface(especially for clothing..curious as I usually resell the childrens old clothes but don't want to leave the name on them). Any experience good or bad is welcomed! Thanks!

I bought these when DS started grade primary. They are VERY durable, they don't come off unless you work on peeling them off.

This is our second year, and I'm still using the same pack. I don't label all his shirts, etc. (he doesn't take off his shirt!), but snow pants, jackets, hoodies, shoes, boots, water bottles, all that kind of stuff. Once in awhile I send him to the lost and found at school and he can find what is his because they're labelled. People think they're expensive, but I think they're worth it.

I've bought them for my daughter (still working on the initial pack I bought her last year), and a lot of the kids I teach use them as well.

They're extremely durable and won't come off easily if you put them on school supplies, bags, water bottles, etc. I have managed to remove them (no residue after removing) but it's an effort, so that could be good or bad depending

If you're reselling the clothing, you can use the "tag mates" on clothing with care instructions tags, they do peel off (again, with effort) in my experience. I do this with my daughter's coats and other outerwear since I plan on reselling or passing them on. I don't label her everyday clothes like shirts and pants though, they sell Iron-On labels for clothes with no tags but I wouldn't put permanent labels on clothing...you can always place his spare change of clothes in a bag and label the bag.

If you plan on labeling his backpack (which I do recommend from a teacher's point of view since so many kids have the exact same bag at least at that age since they're all character backpacks), I would go with either a sticky label or the small metal bag tag, not the huge one (the big ones are more cumbersome).

The labels are a time saver, worth the money, and solve incidents when kids fight over which thing is theirs or not.

I taught one of the owners sons who gave me a gift of the labels for Christmas, not only are the labels great, but they really are a grassroots company.

I've been using Mabel's labels for eons. I swear by them. I use the iron ons on all their outerwear and their spare change of clothes. I use the shoe mates on their shoes and boots, the skinny minis on their school supplies, the list goes on... I find the iron ons are not that hard to take off when I want to sell the items, especially if done while wet. I like the iron ons because I split them in two.... I get it printed with something like "Smith Smith" then I cut in the middle, so I get 2 labels for the price of 1. That way, each kid can wear it without me having to relabel it too. Actually I do that with skinny minis too to label all the tupperware. If you don't label what's in their lunch bag, it tends to disappear. I had a teacher tell me once they don't have time to worry about which kid's lid goes with which kid's container. Drives me bonkers since I buy actual tupperware. So every container and lid is labelled with our last name.

Bottom line...you won't be disappointed with them.
