Most people have Acrobat Reader on their computers because it is easy to download for free and it is all you need to open a read-only PDF. In order to write in a PDF you would need Acrobat Writer. Glad you found a solution.

I actually create PDF forms that you can input text into for work. If it's done properly, then you should be able to open it in any program - usually acrobat reader is most simple, but you can do microsoft word or even notepad as well, and type into the boxes as though it's a blank space and the form weren't actually there.
I'm glad you found your solution though! They can be tricky if they're not done a certain way!

For the forms that I make, I use Adobe Acrobat professional Writer 8. I have something called a developers tab that helps me to create them.
If you're asking how to fill them in using Acrobat, I recommend these directions they're the directions that I give to people most often when they ask me about it at work.

I thought one can type in the fields of an Acrobat file then print the page as then the file can be closed (it does not save the entries?). Reason I say this is I had to use such a file for filling in monthly numbers and print off copies so my supervisor could write the report to go with the statistics.
I did not have the Writer program. Adobe Reader I did have.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
