I saw this on pinterest. Am I the only one who thinks that one mistake and everything you've been chopping is gone into the garbage?

i just think that having a chopping board so close to the garbage ALL the time is nasty.

i have seen other variations of this, all make me go eww

although, i have to saw this is better than one i saw, where the hole was right in the middle, and it left far too little space for actual chopping. that one looked like a mistake waiting to happen

I need all the chopping and prepping space I can get, so I would definitely not have this in my place!

it would be perfectly fine if you used another cutting board on it but wood is porous and you wouldn't be able to clean it. the garbage isn't gross if you just used it for food prep and emptied it after (like in green bins). Under the right conditions it's an awesome idea!

I think it would be great for food waste. I don't know how useful it would be, especially since I have a garbage disposal in the sink.

I have flexi-cutting boards on the counters, so I never directly put/cut anything on the counters. I also put one under the toaster for crumbs.

That just looks plain silly. When I chop, I don't want to be relegated to 6 square inches!
I'm perfectly capable of folding my cutting board and slipping everything on it, into the garbage!
Geez! Another make-money idea for someone!!

I would be worried about food sliding under the board near the part by the counter, and unless it's a full extension drawer which it looks like it is not, it would build up bacteria. Myself, I would prefer the drawer space or as I did in my kitchen, I have the entire cupboard pulls out and it hold 2 large canisters. I for garbage and one for recycle of bottles, jars and such. But definetely, no food prep over the garbage, just smelly.
