Preferably an air popper but might consider something else. Everything reasonably priced here seems to have bad reviews.

We have the Toastess hot air popcorn popper - works great! Got it a few years ago at Sears for $12.
Funny in reviews when people say the machine doesn't pop everything - usually it's because of the popcorn they use! (I find the best is Safeway brand yellow popping corn).
Yes, it's noisy, but I think they all are! Only drawback is that it doesn't make as much as our former machine, which was a Sunbeam we had for decades!

We have switched to a Nordicware Microwave popcorn bowl for a healthier popcorn. You don't need to use any oil, you just put 1/2 cup of popcorn in the bowl and microwave for 2 1/2 minutes. You can find them at Walmart by the microwave stuff and they retail for about 10.00. Like Natalka said, always use a good quality popcorn it makes a huge difference. If we want to use oil or make kettle corn we use a stove top Whirly Pop popper and we love it as well. Good luck.

For the couple of times I make popcorn, I find it's cheaper to make mine on the stovetop than buying a dedicated appliance. For the 3 or 4 TBSP of oil it takes to yield 12 cups of popcorn, I don't worry too much about the extra calories the fat provides.

Thanks. I did find a Sunbeam one. My daughter wants one and I don't want her using oil on the stove.

microwave popcorn popper at walmart. Have had it at least 10 years. Don't have to worry about spillage, noise, plugging it in...best $10 I ever spent at WM!

I also vote for the microwave popper! I don't like bags of microwave popcorn, too salty for my taste. These poppers are great IMO, and inexpensive.
