Shoulda posted this here and not started a new thread, whoops, sorry:
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through S.C.,
not a member was shopping, not even Boo Radley. The members were stopped by holiday cheer, with hopes that Boxing Day soon would be here.
Our coupons were nestled all snug in our binders, While visions of mega-sales served as reminders; To extract only good deals, and wait for the day, to watch for the great sales and not fritter away, The best of our coupons and to keep FPC’s, till after the holiday when budgets are squeezed.
Away to our laptops to read one last post, hoping all the expiry dates still won’t be toast. The lights on our trees hit our flyers once more, And we budget and plan writing shop lists galore.
With a hidden small grin, we turned to our clan, We knew in this moment that we had a PLAN. More rapid than eagles the shopping lists came, And we whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Walmart! Now, Shopper’s! Now,Target and Zeller’s! On, Sobey’s! On No Frills! On PriceMart, and Chapters, To the front of the line! to the back of the mall! Now cash away! Cash away! Cash away all!"
Like old pros that before any sale should go by, When we meet with a manager, call out to that Guy, ”Price match my stuff! Enter my deal!, That item is SCOP! My scratch card, reveal!”
And then, in a twinkling, we shook our heads clear and realize Boxing Day was not yet here. And we drew in our breath, and turning around, saw in the living room our families’ did frown. They were cloaked all in pique, from our shouts and our hoots, And we shrugged off our dreams of great deals and great loot; We bundled our loved ones up in big hugs, And they softened right up, the cute little bugs.
Our eyes -- how they twinkled! Our dimples how merry! Our cheeks were like roses, Our noses like cherries! Our droll little mouths were drawn up like bows, For our plans were rock solid, as any SCer knows! And the smiles they evoked shone out to our kin and they joined us in merriment all over again.
They were happy and safe, a right jolly old group, And we laughed when we saw them, in spite of our dupe; with a wink of our eyes and a twist of our heads, Soon gave them to know they had plenty to dread;
Not tonight, nor tomorrow but the day after that, our families will work; they’ll hustle and bustle and deal with the jerks, But for now we’ll relax and lay in repose, us Scer’s awaiting the sales that we chose. And our families’ we’ll care for, for the next day or two, so that they’ll have to come help us during the Boxing Day zoos.
I smile at the thought of the friends I’ve made here, And their kindness to all fills me with cheer, So I send out to you this poem I write, to wish:
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."OOP: $3844.62 (fuel, food, household, health & beauty)
