Ikea should be bringing in stuffed animals of monkeys etc and really benefit from this exposure asap for the Christmas holidays.

    Update

    Mommy gets visitation rights.

The distraught owner of a monkey seized after being found wandering at a Toronto IKEA may be allowed to visit him, once the “media buzz” dies down.
Yasmin Nakhuda had taken care of Darwin, which Toronto Animal Services says is a rhesus macaque, for the last five and a half months and has called for the animal to choose whether he wants to return to her care.

You're right, they have no monkeys.

Ok just this little guy in the red suit, but he does not have the fashion sense of Darwin.

I was feeling bad for the little guy after the news last night. Some seem to think he should be "returned to the wild", but I worry that he is not wild and won't be accepted. I don't agree with wild animals as pets, but since he was raised with people, it wouldn't be right to try and make him something he's not...a wild animal. As far as being cruel, what's done in the name of medicine and science to monkeys is cruel, certainly not comparable to keeping one as a pet.

Ikea monkey Darwin ‘not mourning’ loss of owner, animal sanctuary says

TORONTO — The baby monkey found wandering outside a Toronto Ikea store this weekend was so attached to his owner he’d have panic attacks whenever she was out of sight, a woman who considered him part of her family said Tuesday.
Yasmin Nakhuda said she’s concerned about the tiny primate’s well-being and is consulting a lawyer to see if she can regain custody of the “pet” she called Darwin.
However, the head of the monkey sanctuary Darwin was sent to by Toronto Animal Services on Monday said the mischievous simian was adjusting well to his new home.
“He’s not mourning his human mother at all,” said Sherri Delaney of the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland, Ont., about 100 kilometres northeast of Toronto.
