So I got
2 x Royale TP $3.99 - 2 x $1 coupons = $5.98
FPC Dove Amplifyer Mouse = $4.99 - $4.99 = free
Men Life +50 multi I THOUGHT WERE $11.99 - that was the price on the shelf!!
Webber B50 x 2 = $ 6.99 - $2 off printable x 2 = $9.98
Milk $3.99
Venus razors disp $8.99 - $2 brandsaver = $6.99
I thought the total (before coupons) will be $51.92.
Total coupons used $12.99.
I thought I was doing so well!! My 1st 20x bonus event ever that I actually planned!
I cash out and pay and the cashier hands me the receipt.
NO BONUS POINTS !!!!
Turns out the Men 50+ multivitamins scanned at $8.49!
Can't remember ever being upset that something scanned for less.

FPC does not count towards 20x the points neither.

I always pad my total so if something scans cheaper I will still be over the amount needed. I think we have ALL made that mistake at least once. You will know for next time.

Feel for your experience. Next time don't be shy... just tell the cashier something did not come out as you planned and you want to refund and re-shop. Right there, right then. Get the coupons you used back and start your shop again. No biggie. I have had to do this before (and I did get a bit red in the cheeks) I just apologized and asked if there was another cashier who could help those waiting in line (or you could always tell the cashier what you want to do and get in line again).

P.S. Also another thing I find helpful is to have the cashier subtotal before coupons then you can see if you are at the minimum as of yet, they can always suspend your transaction if you need to go back and add items on.

I agree with couponingtosurvive I have done this even after I realized and was at home. I just called the store explained what I was trying to do and the manager said just bring in the receipt tomorrow (it was late at night) and we will ring it in again and they would add the points manually that I was missing. Maybe I was lucky because she was so understanding. But if you realize right there in the store just refund it all and add more. Points are points so go for it.

Ask CS to show you the sub total, if it's under 50, then suspend the transaction, get more stuff to reach 50, resume the transaction and get your points

If something doesn't add up, you can always grab a coupole of extra things. The cashiers (at least at Shoppers) can put your transaction on hold and serve another customer. No need to panic

I was short last time and suspended my transaction to get more stuff. Just do it. You will get over your shyness.

When I shop to take advantage of 20X points or whatever promotion, I just tell the cashier "I am trying to get the points deal..." and then she/he will subtotal and either confirm that I have the right amount or pinpoint the additional amount needed to reach the requirement. This way if she/he makes a mistake and has to redo the transaction, I do not feel bad. Do not worry, you will get better and many events will come where you will get your points. Thank you for posting.

Thank you everyone for comments! I will let the cashier know that I am trying to get the 20x deal ahead of time, and suspend transaction if something doesn't work out.
I definitely get flustered when people are waiting in line behind me with an attitude.

I have done this too. More than once. So I feel your frustration. I always look at the screen first now to make sure everything comes up as I would like. I have had to leave the line to grab an extra milk jug before. Its something we always use and can fill in easily if I come up short.
