Love that both of you are really into this topic. Will look forward to your review of your Target stores and compare to mine in Oshawa area.

According to the target.ca website, they will have Archer Farms products. I hope the keep their word.

it is sad it's the end of an era.. it was sorta the same way when Wolworth went...(i know that dates me.. but hey i was a kid at the time) i bought my very first TV at worlworth back in the 80`s... 20 inch TV for $200 (took a heck of alot of savings) and would you believe... the thing STILL works!

my expectations are along the lines of walmart (but red lol) basically discount retailer (currently walmart has the monopoly on that) i expect them to adjust to the Canadian market just like walmart has, that prices will be discount but i don`t expect what happens in the USA stores to happen in the Canadian stores same with the deals (something across the boarder will be cheaper then items in the Canadian store)

Yes. You are probably right about pricing being better across the border. Wages are lower. Economy is hurting there and raising prices won't bring them sales.

Yes. Walmart is different because they don't have the red bullet. And they don't have that cute Target dog.

The website update is awesome! I'm still hoping they'll carry ELF, because I love their products.

All I'm hoping for with Target is competitive prices, store/manufacturer coupon stacking and ELF, lol.

Kind of dumb that the government is forcing Target to carry Canadian brands. If I want Roots I'll go to a darn Roots store. I can't remember the last time I got anything from that brand, and won't be buying any at target.

Ugh disappointed we still don't have exact opening dates yet. My local store is set to open "Spring 2013" which could be anywhere from April - end of May all depends on what your interpretation of Spring is.

It used to say March/April guess thats a long shot.

Haven't been that way in a bit, do they have all of the holes in the walls closed up yet?

Someone told me the Upper Canada Mall location is close to being done, not sure if it is true as I NEVER go to the mall. But if this one opens first I might have to venture in to check it out.

I know a lot of people scream at how bad competition is but I think it is time that some companies got more competition. When you compare stores that have come into Canada to their US version you see the obvious differences. Without competition the only one suffering is the consumer because they do not have to fight for our business. Not to mention I understand supporting Canadian companies but maybe it is time they also become more competitive, you cannot tell me they can't look at Canadian Tire, Sears they are revamping to compete.

I have to say I am loving Price Matching and the fact that some grocery stores are starting to see they really do have competition one great sale price will no longer get people in the door as if you only have one thing on sale it will price matched somewhere else. Alot of stores used to have a couple great prices to get in, in hopes you would just get everything because you were there, this no longer happens and stores are seeing it.

You know I actually drive by that way several times a week and never look. LOL. I was P.O'd for so long because they closed off the cut threw area from the one plaza to the other and I kept forgetting and then would see it and have to go back and around.

I'm pretty sure they would be all sealed up by now as if they are planning to be open for "spring" it should be mostly just the inside set up that needs to be done. One would hope atleast. I'll make it my mission to take look tomorrow since I have to go over that way again.

The one at Centre Mall in Hamilton has the Target sign and I know people working there and at the Starbucks. Its 95% ready to go. The one near me in Stoney Creek is about 25% done but has a sign Target loves Canada in symbols and I was told today at school they are hiring asap.

I asked they said it's a new area.I took that response as no.They want to suck as much money as possible from the Canadian customers.

Change in the retail market is possible.
Walmart.ca asks for customers to do a survey online.
I ask for walmart.com style coupons each time I do the survey.
