I do. My sister drives me bonkers with her cat stories, she's a cat person.
I'm a dog person, I have Gaius, my big boy. He's a good boy, yes he is!!
So what was the universe thinking? December 15th, early morning and I had the kitchen window open even though it was cold out. I like fresh air. Frightened, frantic tiny meows. I look out and there's two tiny kittens trying to shelter themselves from the snow next to our step. Far too small to be on their own.
Hmmmph.
So I get a couple of kids and we go and pick them up. We head to the several of the neighbors asking if they're theirs, nope. Not likely anyway, if someone owned them they wouldn't have been outside. We kept checking and put ads up but nobody claimed them. They easily fit in the palm of my hand, they were maybe two weeks old. Just old enough to wander away and they did. Mom was likely a stray.
My wife hates cats even more than I do. They sleep with her now when she snoozes downstairs, and she pats them with love in her eyes until she sees me looking at her with a big smile. Caught her loving them!
They are no longer the kittens, they're Furball and Niko, Niko is the boy. Kids named them. And Gaius has learned they're not food. I'm not kidding there, that was a real concern and we had to be very careful introducing them to him. But it is the cutest thing to see a kitten pawing at his face on its back while he's stoically taking the beating. He's a good boy, yes he is! And to see a kitten curl up between his paws for a nap? Priceless.
And the kittens are flying all over the house right now, apparently some sort of early morning gladiator games. Cutest thing ever.
Did I mention I hate cats? I guess that's not true anymore, :(
