The recipes can lend themselves to substitutions and using what you have in a new combination or way is always worth at least one tryout. Sometimes, finding out another use for a herb/vegetable/pasta pleases me!

Obtained my Winter issue today-no coupons inside.

BTW, Niagara region has its Icewine festival this weekend and next, per ad in the issue.
(Mods, can you move this thread back to Freebies, please?)

What I made for V:love:lentine's Day, the shrimp fusili rosa from the winter edition. (Substituted broccoli for cauliflower to add some colour.)
I was inspired by the cover photo, so I made this caramel apple crisp

Was especially pleased that the Mr. really liked it and even ate more the next day, because he had previously said he doesn't care for apple crisp.
Karabana, you are the designated "chef" recipe tester for the magazine on SC! Thanks for sharing your photos of the meal-love apple crisp!
(I'm actually leafing through my binder of recipes, taking some out to make room for incoming new ones. Spring cleaning!)
Awesome pictures! I'll have to pass by the LCBO to see if they have the new magazine yet. I always feel so Martha Stewartish when making their recipes!

Spring dishes-love the small desserts in the form of tarts! Chicken dishes too. The Set the Scene kitchen gadgets and place settings are so nifty! The carrot jellybean bags are a wonderful way to make guests feel sweet. Check out the interview at the back of the magazine-a Ukrainian Easter egg decorator.
Next issue: Early Summer, April 30!
A good variety of beverages are listed inside too.
GUESS what I'm making from this month's magazine???? http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/jo...y-emoticon.gif
I'll give you a hint, it's a chicken dish...;)

Nine more days until EARLY SUMMER issue is in our hands!
They changed the plastic wrap-it crinkles! The Early Summer issue is bagged with a glossy copy of Niagara Canada travel (76 pg; designer Cobi Ladner mentions her Niagara finds of shops and places) and a mail-in card if you would like a free issue of Style At Home.
Coupon spotted inside:
p. 159 Save $1 on Any Alcan BBQ Buddy (photo shows Veggie Pan and Grill Top foil pans) Limit one coupon per purchase; no expiry date shown (odd).
Recipes-
Would like to try Pan-Seared Scallops with Vermouth-Poached Creamy Heirloom Carrot Puree & Microgreens (lots of flavours including ginger, butter, cardamom, stock, orange peel) even though I'm not a big fan of seafood. The finished dish photo says "must try" to my eyes.
Should try Lemon Zucchini Cakes to have a different way to serve zucchini.
Hmm, a trio of cocktails catch the attention: for hot sauce fans, there is the Sriracha Margarita. Also tea and lemon-tarragon collins; fennell-strawberry smash
Suggest you get your copy this weekend before copies go! Ancaster location had quite a full display rack this morning.
Next issue: Summer, available June 25 (featuring BBQ World Cup (global grill recipes) and Total Indulgence (chocolate desserts for summer).
Summer issue came out in the stores yesterday. With a holiday coming up after the weekend, you might want to make sure you get your copy.

Issue came bagged with an Savour Elgin tourism book (some recipe lists are inside but you have to go to vendor websites for instructions) and a Wine Country supplement.
I picked up LCBO's Great Canadian Summer 2014 also (rack next to F&D rack) and it has some drinks and food recipes inside. There is a lobster roll recipe, if you were like me in missing McDonald's menu item last year, that you might want to clip!
Recipes that I am saving are the lobster dishes, most of the World Cup bbq ones, the flavoured ice cubes, two of the chocolate desserts and some salads for Mom (the lentil and Saskatoon berry salad stands a chance of being made with blueberries) plus the spicy cantaloupe soup with mint-infused shrimp.
