Next Wednesday, the Early Summer issue arrives! New recipes...
The ideal answer
It's the second day of summer-two more days to wait to see the Summer issue!
Today's the day, now I feel like it's really summer!
Picked up my bagged copy and there are lots of inserts with the magazine:
Appehtite Upgrade your Summer with $10 of coupons (will post coupon thread in Coupons afterwards)
Chatelaine Pawprints magazine (some pet food coupons inside and it seems Pet Smart is sponsoring them)
Wine Country Ontario Travel Guide 2015 (with postcard insert to mail in your info for a wine country getaway prize)
Air Miles Summer Rewards-get 100 miles (with any 3 subscriptions for yourself or gift subscriptions) with your favourite magazines (Rogers) www.rogersmags.com/foodanddrink
Ontario Turkey booklet-recipes and mention of contest
Quick skim of magazine-lots of chilled drinks and flavourful summer dishes. Cod in coconut broth with keffir lime leaves--
I'm sure coffee drinkers will enjoy the Ice Capped Cooler on p. 164!
Offers in the magazine-1 coupon and two wine related promos:
1) At Milestones Restaurants (June 29-Sept 7), $5 off * (participating locations EXCLUDING Niagara Falls ON and Airport locations) your food purchase when you purchase any bottle of Kim Crawford wine all summer long;
2) Free BBQ Apron *valid June 27 - July 18 while quantities last. Available on specially marked bottles (Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi) at the LCBO for details.
*Autumn issue will be out on September 9. Themes: dinner in the barn, Eat/drink/stay/love, Happy Halloween, Olive Oil Cakes.
Thanks, I went on Wednesday and of course that LCBO didn't get any!!
Check back with the store and even ask about any French issues. Hamilton stores tend to run out of the English issues by day two but stores do get some French copies (likely one bundle or box) as well. Perhaps you've had someone locate the summer issue at another location?
FYI The French magazine doesn't come in a bag with the extra inserts so no coupons...
The English edition is bagged with a LCBO Vintages postcard promoting ordering and a 2015 Greenbelt map. No coupons are in the issue. http://foodanddrink.ca/fooddrink/images/right_next.jpg
Main page has a video link preview. http://foodanddrink.ca/fooddrink/index.shtml
There's an article about visiting Prince Edward County with a nice sandy beach shot opening the piece plus mentions of places to visit.
Will see if one of the oil cakes (that pecan dark chocolate upside down one looks yummy) will become a fall favourite.
Mark November 4 in your planners/online calendars for the Holiday Issue release!
BTW:
Indigo Books has a full page ad promoting its Indigo Weekend url in the Autumn issue. So here you are and see what's on the agenda for this weekend: https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/make-it-an-indigo-weekend/
i like the longo inserts, lots of good food ideas in there! was disappointed there was no coupons this time though!
Pity, I did not see a Longo's insert. I hope other SCers will report if the French edition was also bagged and what it contains.
While there were no coupon offers, there were a couple of wine deals mentioned.
I've already taken out the recipes of interest-mostly vegetable dishes, the one olive oil cake and the Indonesian platter recipes-for my recipe collection. Must say I like the Esparao ad showing their past wine labels done in pen and watercolours.
Thanks to @fanofearl for posting the new magazine review! http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/410250-...-today-canada/
Winter 2016 issue will be available next week on January 13.:pizza:
The thought of getting this magazine, along with a daydream that all SC members were heading to airports by limos and airport shuttles for a trip to Hawaii, helped me get out the door after shovelling the snow.
Beer recipes for frying doughnuts, making batter and more!
There are at least two recipes that use hazelnuts (Mexican pancake recipe and one for stuffed pork chops).
Punch recipes made with slow cookers!
Handy gadget-themed sticky notes for marking food magazine pages.
No coupons or bagged inserts. The online issue of the magazine will be available on January 27!
.
Online link for Winter issue is available for viewing.
Early Spring issue will be in-store on March 16.
I need a good flavoured beer (not stout or coffee-based) to use for a rosemary beer bread recipe I found in a cookbook recently. I'm leaning towards a citrus flavoured beer. Any suggestions.
New issue next Wednesday, day before St. Patrick's Day!:lightbulb:
Tomorrow, tomorrow is only a day away...from the new issue of Food & Drink magazine.
Visually colourful issue-I should say this needs to be called the vacation issue! Store even had a box of the French language issues on the nearby counter.
Tea gets a couple of pages as it is a trend plus there is a matcha mint profiteroles recipe!
Coconut section-that banana coconut tart!
No coupons except ad mention that the Save $2 wub Miss Vickie's chips coupons are on Woodbridge wines that you buy at the LCBO.
*Note-your local LCBO store may be closing early on Tuesday March 29 (Easter Tuesday) at 6pm for year-end inventory (LCBO is an agency of the Ontario government, which has a fiscal year end of March 31).

May 4 is the date for the Early Summer issue-13 days away!:thumb:
Three more days-good thing some of the weather is warming up as well for the new issue!
Yes, the digital issue of the Early Summer edition will be live then! @SavvyLady
Hard copy was bagged with Wine Country Ontario 2016 book, Summer Fresh BBQ booklet with 2 x $1 coupons (off one 800g/1kg Summer Fresh Salad Bowl; any one (1) 228g (4x57g) Summer Fresh Hummus or Tzatski Minis 4-pack) and a card to mail away for a free issue to Cdn House and Home.
Inside the front cover, there is a Hudson's Bay coupon (valid May 1 to June 30, 2016) to save 50% on regular price furniture (excludes EQ3, Italia, Re-vive, Calvin Klein and online purchases).
Recipes-quick skim through and whoa, those desserts using liquor (blackberry cassis gelee looks impressive) are special enough. Condiments get a section; Tofu 101 primer is inside too.
