Soooooooo...........I had my first weigh-in today, and am up 2 lbs. I expected as much since DD and I misbehaved on the weekend, and with only one day on the diet, a miracle did not happen.
And I have a pot-luck on Wednesday evening, and judging by the menu, no one is bringing anything with less than 1000 calories in every tablespoon! I'm bringing my "Too Much Chocolate" bundt cake, frosted, but I doubt I'll have more than a nibble.
THEN the diet will start in earnest!!
Curt, great loss there, fella!!! You are doing amazing, keep up the fantastic job!!
Take care, everyone....!!
YOU TWO are a pair!!!! Tootsie Rolls??!! :yikes:
Toosie rolls are made of; sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, condensed skim milk, cocoa, whey, soy lecithin, orange extract
Yes, all tasty, but...sigh...I hope you enjoyed them...
Just...please don't ever grocery shop together? Promise?

I am doing a chinese luncheon for e school on Wednesday. Egg rolls, chicken and veggie fried rice, beef noodles with and without the beef for the vegetarian kids. :P
I also finally made vegan burgers that stuck together and weren't all squishy. They went over very well.
Oh Lynn!! I know!! I know better than anyone as I read labels of processed foods all the time and scream at the manufacturers and the injustice of the added sugar and salt in everything, but.....................what can I say except,
THEY ARE TOOTSIE ROLLS! ( I think there is a deep emotional trigger to this particular candy from childhood ) I would negotiate with my inner self but it is a gooey mess of sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, condensed skim milk, cocoa, whey, soy lecithin, and orange extract in there!!
:lolsign:
This diet is like following a military campaign! It's a lot of food but different from the WW program in that carbs, fruits, etc are strictly regulated, so a calorie is not a calorie...iykwim...Time for a "snack"...!
Keep up the great work, everyone!!

I've heard that I'll "gain it all back" once I stop my diet!!!
Of course I would, if I'd start eating like a FAT person again!!

I hope diet sodas with sucralose is okay...must check...
Whew...I think it's fine.....!!:-)
Sucralose has been accepted by several national and international food safety regulatory bodies, including the FDA, Joint Food and Agriculture Organization / World Health Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives, the European Union's Scientific Committee on Food, Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada, and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ). According to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the amount of sucralose that can be consumed over a person's lifetime without any adverse effects is 9 milligrams per day per kilogram of body weight.[21][22]"In determining the safety of sucralose, the FDA reviewed data from more than 110 studies in humans and animals. Many of the studies were designed to identify possible toxic effects, including carcinogenic, reproductive, and neurological effects. No such effects were found, and FDA's approval is based on the finding that sucralose is safe for human consumption." For example, McNeil Nutritional LLC studies submitted as part of its U.S. FDA Food Additive Petition 7A3987 indicated that "in the 2-year rodent bioassays ... there was no evidence of carcinogenic activity for either sucralose or its hydrolysis products ..
Hi All,
Joining this thread thanks to Granger for sharing the link :sweet:.
I have a medical condition that apparently can be resolved by shedding 20-30 pounds so here I am, saw the doctor yesterday so decided to jump on the ban wagon now instead of waiting until Monday :).
I will admit my eating habits are poor which I think is my biggest fault, I never eat breakfast and hardly ever eat lunch but have a huge supper and then have a snack before bed, big no nos.
I also don't exercise but have posted on a face book group that I am looking for a used stationary exercise bike so it's a start.
I had 1 boiled egg for breakfast this morning at 930AM and I am already planning what to have for lunch so I am headed down the right path :top:.
I am trying to set reasonable goals such as to lose 5 pounds a month.
I will weight myself on Sundays and will allow myself a cheat/treat 1 day on the weekend (gotta live a little).
Also going to fill up a jug and keep cold water in the fridge and add some lemon to entice the flavor (I hate water).
So if anyone is interested in making some healthy suggestions for breakfast options I would be grateful as I am not a breakfast person but that is changing!
welcome jasperandchar! For whatever the reason the members on this thread are staying! We have lost, regained, relost and hopefully we will lose it for good! One thing is certain. You will get oodles of encouragement here, along with ribbing, jokes, crazy pics and more!
You say you normally do not eat breakfast, and sometimes miss lunch too? Well that will be your biggest hurdle, because unless you have some fuel in your tank you will not go very far.
Some suggestions for breakfast...whatever you choose, make it a bit of each, some each of protein, carb, and fats. Make as many of your choices the good versions of these 3 things....so lean protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. I love the idea of the water jug with lemon ( and limes!) make it extra tasty.
The usual things to avoid at all costs, we all know what they are.......anything that tastes heavenly.
I also like your reasonable 5 lb/month goal, smart! ( as well as safe for you)
Not exercising is not going to prevent you from losing weight, it means only that you could lose it faster if you burned calories as well as eating differently, but I say focus on one thing at a time. Also the reason you are doing this in the first place is to improve your medical condition so bravo for that!
At the moment I am " off my wagon " with my weight loss plan......so you can see that everyone here struggles daily with changing the way we eat. I am sure you will get many other great tips from the others as well, so stay tuned!
Hi Jasperandchar and welcome,
You will probably notice that we encourage each other but also respect each other's "lifestyle" choices.
No criticism is given just support :)
As for myself I am following a vegan diet which includes no oil, eggs, meat, dairy.
My breakfasts are usually 2 pieces of grain bread with almond butter and 2 small bananas. I drink black, green or ginger tea. As an alternative I will have the Fiber First Blue menu cereal from PC with almond milk and fruit.
Welcome, Jasperandchar!
Well, Hon, one thing for sure (and believe ME, if I hadn't experienced it, I never would have believed it!), if you're starving yourself, or if you're not hungry, you will absolutely not lose weight because you are NOT metabolizing (burning fat and fuel). I thought I was being smart taking in about 800 calories last month, and I gained 4pounds! Now I'm eating 3 meals a day plus 3snacks and am losing again! You cannot do this without a plan.
if you want a free program, google Weight Watcher's points chart to find out how many points you should consume per day, then find a site that lists all WW food points and start losing! That's how I lost my 50 lbs last year, so I can guarantee it works!
Our DD signed me up with Herbal Magic, so that's what I'm following right now. The other day they noticed I had missed a fat the day before and told me that next time I'm to grab a tbsp if peanut butter, no matter how late it us, and get that in!
Our DD went from size 10-12 to a 6, losing about 2lbs a week, but went back to old habits this summer and is a 10 again, so she re-joined, also.
On this program I have to eat: 3 protein, 4 vegetables, 3 fruit, 2 fat, 2 starch and 1 "extra" which is spelled out for us ( I usually have a chewy chocolate caramel 100 cal Fibre 1 bar).
I'm eating and burning fat because my body had learned that it doesn't have to store food as fat...it can burn it because it trusts that more is coming.
Trust me...if you don't take in the calories you need to lose weight, you won't lose weight.
Lesson learned thru much trial and error!
Good luck!!
