Please be careful with this diet it has been debunked many times already.
I am down 1
I am very discouraged with the way this site is going :( The brag section is outrageous. :(
Not the site I remember for sure. I think I will stick with the garden thread and here so my head doesn't explode.
O man I have not been online and browsed in a while! Heading over to brags. Congrats on the Anniversary Lynn, sorry to hear about your foot/leg...I missed that somewhere in translation.
Happy Summer everyone.
Brags just people trying to beat the system again that is all.
Paleo diet , it's mostly the high fat content that has cardiologists worried.
Hm....weren't cardiologists concerned about the Atkins diet for that same reason? I have no idea where that discussion ended, and the Paleo diet seems a reflection of that original "meat" diet. Like Walks, and you, likely others on this thread, I basically feel everything in moderation, although I'm still not a big meat-eater. I even pick out those chicken pieces in canned soups these days (can't ask hubby to mak me scratch soups on top of everything g he's doing now...lol!) and give them to Jenny. However, put a nice, juicy homemade burger in front of me, or a sweet med-rare steak, and it's gobbled up! But we don't have that often....basically when we have the typical meat/fish, two veg, rice/potato dinners, I eat very little of the meat.
So I guess, not so Paleo for me....
I think with the Paleo diet or " food plan " ( we hate to use the word diet ) it of course mentions meat as being included in the food choices, however it does not mean that we have to O.D. on the intake of meat. Nor does it mean that the meat choices have to be ones that have a higher fat content, we can choose the lean cuts.
Using as Lynn says moderation can mean we have a reasonable 2-4 ounce portion of protein with the remainder of the plate being all fresh raw, or lightly cooked veggies. To me that should not cause anyone heart problems.
Problem is you know what some people do is go overboard on everything. I just think people need to do what they feel comfortable with.
Funny you mention Atkins. We did it about 10 years ago and lost some weight but we were totally nasty. The lack of balance made us crazy. We had brain fog from lack of carbs. It was not pretty :P
So last night around dusk there was a huge swarm of bees outside on our property near a large tree (I think it is a beech tree). We have NEVER seen any bees before this (been here over 3 weeks), including at this time of day as DH is usually outside working. Any thoughts? Nothing out this morning.
I am obviously concerned for safety of my 2 and 3 year old if there is a hive...yet, the bee population is so important to our environment (and dwindling) I don't want to over react. Any experience with this, oh wise ones? Pollenating? I did some googling but nothing explains why I would only see them that one time.
We will be out for fireworks tonight, but tomorrow we plan to look for them at the same time of day.
Hi, Granger, I just saw this on the show, "Flip or Flop". They called in a beekeeper who moved the hive to an alternate location with the queen. Bees gone, no harm to them.
So perhaps a call to a local honey farm or horticultural society which might be able to provide you with more information would be your first step....good luck!
I am proud to say that I am now 6lbs away from being in the top of the healthy weight range for my 5'10" height. I weigh 20lbs less now that I did when I got married nearly 3yrs ago, I am working on losing my "university weight." When I hit that weight I will back to the amount that I weighed when I graduated high school 10yrs ago (in many ways it doesn't feel like that long). We are planning on having our second child next year, so the weight loss should make it easier to get pregnant and should also make the pregnancy, labour, and delivery easier on my body. I sometimes try to remind myself that I am losing weight and getting healthier for our next baby, not just our 22month old son.
Goodness! Congratulations, Angela! That's got to feel wonderful!
I'd be down about 6 lbs just overnight if I can toss this leg brace! Lol! I'm anxious to weigh myself when I can stand on two feet again; my appetite hasn't been the same, which is a good thing, but I know I need the nutrition to mend this leg, so I almost force myself to eat. Of course that's not too hard to do with the cookies my hubby baked from scratch and the ice-cream he buys.....but oatmeal raisin cookies and dairy....it's all good, right?
Keep up the great work, Angela!
oh wow Angela!! Way to go!
W2G Angela! Bees have not been back. So strange. Friend of DH deals with bees we do plan to be in touch with him regardless.
thank goodness they ( the bees ) left.
So my weight ( or maybe it was my scale??) this week was weird! I was showing a loss of one pound on each day Sun, Mon and Tues. which had me very excited but stunned as I did not feel I was doing anything drastic to be showing loss like that.
However by Wed, Thurs and today it all went back to where it should be I suppose. My loss for this week was 1.5 lbs.
