So , I just wanted to share
For 2013 I had decided to make a few changes - first I want my family to eat better dinners during the work week with less work. Our average dinner night looks like this:
Hubby: I'm hungry - whats for dinner?
Me: I don't know - I just got home from work.... I can whip up veggies and dip and cheese and crackers?
Hubby: No I don't want that...
Me: ummmm, well chicken is frozen, roast is frozen, if I had thought we could have pulled something out.... I'm tired and I don't really feel like making something elaborate
Solution: Veggie and dip plate, or kraft dinner or take out......... Gross....
So,. step one of my plan: Freezer cooking
-I figure I can save time and money have meals ready to go....
Step two of my plan: Coupons
-I've signed up to a number of coupon sites now, and familiarized myself with what deals are out there --- can't wait for the mail now!!
Step three: Price matching
For the first time ever I price matched yesterday!! I organized my list with the layout of the store and recorded which item was from which flyer. Checkout was pretty quick - and the girl at the checkout said I was very organized!
So long story short -- I usually spend about 200.00 a week on groceries -- yesterday I had a larger budget in mind because I was "stock piling" for freezer cooking. ...... Well my bill was 148.34 and I could hardly believe it!!! Looking at the cart I was sure I was well over $200.00!
I tallied my savings this morning -- and including the deals at Freshco and all my price matching I saved $72.00!! (No coupons yet either!!)

great brag!
you will love coming home to meals in your freezer.
I find it takes me only a little extra time to make 4 recipes of something rather than one and then I have tons of extra meals in my freezer.
Open a Tangerine (ING DIRECT) Account with $100 & use my Orange Key 22115175S1 we will both get $50.00

nice work! I've been doing exactly this for over 2 years. I usually take a whole weekend every couple of months and make all our supper meals for the next 6 or 7 weeks. Its not much more effort to make 2 or 3 of something if you're already making 1! I like knowing that we will have something delish and nutrish for supper. Oh, and I LOVE my slow cooker. Put all my ingredients in the crock the nite before sometimes and pop it in the fridge. Then just before we leave for work, take it out and start it. the House smells wonderful when you get home!
My favorite F word....FREEEEEEE!!
