I once paid my credit card amount owing to my cell phone provider. I had a $700 credit... More than my cell phone for a year. I called nd they issued a cheque, thank goodness.

    is a little giggle ok?
We once got a cheque at work that took almost a year to show, the company said deposit it anyway and it went through but 11 years is pushing it I think
Burning $1000 would feel kinda good though, decadent

Being the thrifty person that I am, I'd never laugh at someone losing money.
On the other hand...you just found money. lol

I am surprised the company that issued the cheque never said anything about it not being cashed, it would mess up their books. I know when I got my first job at 14 I would get my pay cheque ever week and just put it in the drawer because I had no need for the money, so finally after doing this for about 2 months my boss asked me very nicely if I could please cash the cheques because I was messing up their accounts....lol

I'll admit to chuckling as I, too, have left a cheque uncashed and found it in a drawer a year later. Not fun but in light of things going on for you at that time, I'm glad you lost the cheque and not your husband!

Hugs for a fab year filled with laughter!

Depends on the company, some just write it back into the books as a credit if you don't cash them. I usually call after 3 months and make sure they got the cheque, if they still dont cash it - their loss

Thanks everyone...I hope you all got a giggle and felt that there are people out here who also do dumb things....
Natalka, don't get me wrong, it would have been nice to have it, but on the "upside" it wouldn't make or break us, and yes, thank goodness that it was the cheque that was lost and not my dear husband.

Btw...I'd never tell him about it, and swore our DD to secrecy (she is my Financial Planner, too, lol)...he'd shake his head at yet another of my goof-ups, but would also understand that I was a wreck during those weeks and a mis-placed cheque was the least of our worries back then. He subsequently had his heart-valve replaced, so the beat went on...so to speak....

See? Now don't you all feel SO much better about your teensy goof-ups?

I think you have two choices, call the company and ask for a new cheque or just let it go.
