The Best Of Me - Nicholas Sparks.
Fast read (read it last night). Pretty similar to all his books.
missing you - harlen coben
good story!
Smokin' Seventeen - Janet Evanovich
Decided to finally give her books a try, I've heard good things about them.
Any reviews from anyone who have read them?
Starting "The Silkworm" by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling)
Call of the midwife by Jennifer Worth
After Dead by Charlaine Harris - fun, super short summary of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. Gives a summary of what happen to the characters.
Private London - love James Patterson. His book are always a fast read and entertaining.
Now that summer is here, I've been a busy little reader!
1. The Orenda. Joseph Boyden. Phew. Amazing! Very visceral.
2. "The Space Between" by Don Aker--which is a teen fiction book (lol) but I like to read what my students read sometimes so I can talk books with them. It was ok. Very teenager-ish. lol.
3. Annabel- by Kathleen Winter. It was a CBC "Canada Reads" shortlist book so I figured it had to be good; unfortunately, it just didn't engage me and if it weren't for the fact that I borrowed it on a 7-day library loan, I never would've gotten around to finishing it, to be honest. But I really like the topic of it (a hermaphrodite trying to fit in our very narrow world). Very thought provoking.
4. Just started Jodi Picoult's "Vanishing Acts.' She's my smut indulgence (lol) because there's nothing really academic or below the surface in her stories. But she weaves a wicked tale and I love how she tells her stories. Beautiful descriptions and intricate details. Who can complain about that? Her books are an easy read and a great distraction which is kinda why I chose her yesterday. I need a guaranteed distraction right now.
I started reading The Storied Life of AJ Firky and I'm really enjoying it. I love the references to books and the vague comments about authors and books.
Prophecy by Elizabeth Haydon
I'd have to agree, they are very much a set formula BUT the first 5 or so and really great books, like laugh out loud funny and there is a scene in the 3rd one that truly creeped me out. Every once and a while it will come back to me and I dont know why but-yikes, it was very suspenseful and tense!
I'm with you on that. I was able to guess what happened and who did it but I really liked the characters, so I thought I'd give this one a try. I have about 100 pages left and I'm not sure who I think did it, so a good book for me. I know some people like to be able to guess and then be proven right but I kind of like to be kept not really certain until near the very end.
