Finished Checkhov's "The Lady and the Dog" , short stories, Czarist pre-revolution Russia.
Classical Russian.
Next a couple of his four act plays, first "The Seagull".
just got 'the outsider'.... everything else is now on hold

lol I gave up on this author a few years ago. Either her writing has become more an more cliche or I've become more discerning in my reading.Quote:

like jays said, it started with a bang! interesting premise. not nearly as gory and gruesome as some of his other tales. almost 'tame'.
i wouldn't call it 'great' but definitely a 'good' read.

Just bought "The Outsider" today..with start that shortly and also finished "The Duchess" by Danielle Steele yesterday. ( My MIL reads her stuff and then passes the books on to me).
Just finished The Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
Interesting read, it is a story within a story and I thought it was well written but I did figure out one of the 2 the Who Done Its in the book by about 2/3rds of the way through

didn't enjoy it as much as the 'easy rawlins' books but a good read. 7/10

not terrifically written. there is some repetition in chapters but each chapter can be read as a stand alone.
