Not quite a newbie... but sort of! :)

Hi all,

I am not exactly new, been here a while - but I don't think I ever posted an introduction (although possibly back in the very beginning!)! I am a married 28 year old, mother to a 7 year old boy and a 3 month old girl. Was on maternity leave, and got back into couponing as I had more time on my hands, but now returning back to work rather suddenly due to my husband unexpectedly being laid off. This is the third lay-off between us in less than three years, plus my maternity leave. The first two lay-offs were from jobs we had been employed at for ten years and five years each - so in this economy, no one is safe. I must say, I am glad I started couponing when I did, as we are well stocked for food, if nothing else! We are from small-town Nova Scotia, and the job market in Atlantic Canada is pretty awful at the moment - so couponing can go a long way to help families in tough situations like this. I have enjoyed reading this site for a couple of years now, and have gotten some great tips not only on couponing, but on frugal living in general!

Looking forward to participating more in discussions as time allows now that I will be back to work full time! I am amazed at what some folks on here manage to achieve! I also run a small local group (about 70 members) on Facebook for friends and family in my hometown and my husband's hometown, to monitor flyer deals, new coupons out, and provide tips and hints.

So, hello everyone! Would love to connect with some other Nova Scotia couponers as well!

Welcome to SC! It's nice to meet you, I'm from NB, and our market isn't much better than NS. DH and I are fortunate enough to both have full-time jobs, but you just never know. With the government threatening cuts left right and center I'm scared every announcement they make! The non-profit company I work for is a social program for adults with disabilities funded by government, and you just never know what the governments going to cut next...

SO true... my hubby's company was driven by a huge government investment, so we thought it was safe. Still a private company though.

My company is a private company as well.

We both worked in the energy industry too, also thinking that made things a little safer too. Oops, I guess? Win some, and ya lose some I guess. I kind of miss work, I am sure it will all be fine.
