Raven:
amazing work you doing.
are you a registered charity? I am going to do a cash donation but if you are registered I can have DH do it and his company has a matching program so it will be double. I have a 3.00 pediasure coupon, can you use it? I don't have little ones any more but I am happy to save what ever I get for coupons. You can also somehow register to receive donations of SDM points but I have no idea how.
Very inspirational!
God bless you!
You are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Firstly, let me thank you for considering Essential Aid as the recipiant of your donation. Because we are non-profit, we do rely on the kindess and generosity of individuals to help keep our programs running.
For the past 2 years, we have been providing assistance to local families that are in need of some extra help by running an Emergency Formula and diaper program. Until recently, we have been operating as informal non-for-profit orgnization using the name Essential Aid Family Services. When we decided to expand and open our Family Needs Bank in Hamilton, we began the process of registering to incorporate provincially. After sending in our Application For Incorporation of a Corporation without Share Capital (Form 2), the Ministry advised us that the name "Essential Aid Family Services" was not descriptive enough to satisfy the requirements and suggested the name "Essential Aid and Family Services of Ontario". We have recently re-submitted our application using the suggested name change and expect to have the registration completed by the end of this week. We paid for the Expedited Service so that registration will be completed within 7 days... At that point you will be able to find us registered provincially as a corporate non-profit organization.
Unfortunatley, at this time, we are unable to issue Tax Reciepts for donations made to Essential Aid so we will not qualify for the Donation Matching by your husbands company. We will, however, begin the application process for a Charitable Tax Exemption Status with the CRA as soon as our corporate provincial registration is complete. Our Lawyer has advised that the registration process for registering a Charity under the Income Tax Act can take from 6-18months. The process is lengthly and I will have to jump through many flaming hoops but we hope to gain the CRA Charitable status as soon as possible, so that we may apply for funding for further expansion.
I have also looked into the SDM optimum donation program (thanks so much for the tip!) and we will be able to register the Charity for it just as soon as we have that CRA Charitable Status tax exemption number. I am really hoping the application process is closer to 6months and not 18months!
WOW! You are providing a great service. Well done!
