Moving to Milton/Burlington area

Hi everyone. Was wondering of any of you had any advise or comments about living in Milton or Burlington, Ontario. We are looking to move there this summer and would appreciate any nuggets of wisdom. We also have young children going into elementary school so if you have any comments about the schools there it would be appreciated too!

We are moving for work. My job will be in Mississauga and DH in Burlington. This is why we are looking into Milton/Burlington. We're leaning more towards Milton as it is closer to our budget for homes, but are wondering if Burlington would be a better community, or have better schools? Any help, comments or words of encouragement would be appreciated!

Where you moving from?

There is a second cup coffee shop in Burlington, I know because I was there a few times. If that means anything to you, I don't know.

If you want family focused area in Burlington, stay away from the area around Plains Rd, king Rd, QEW.....more towards the lake is fine, but closer Plains Rd is kind of crummy.
The older neighbourhoods south of Fairview from Brant to Burloak are generally nice and easy to commute ( the area south of the mall at Fairview and walkers is not the greatest).


Alder shot is not too bad, growing.
Not too sure about the neighbourhoods north of the QEW, a lot of it is new growth and is expensive, so I am sure it is probably decent.


I have not lived in Burlington for about 6 years so my opinion is based on what it was like then, but I have family that lives there still and it seems that not too much has changed.


Burlington was a very nice city to live in when I was there.....the only thing I do not like about it is the fact that it is right across from Hamilton, and if you are living in the west side especially, you would be subject to the pollution right from the steel factories and such that line the harbour.
