Updated: Finally joined the omg what a nightmare shopping trip club
Updated at end of this post:
So after a long day shopping and picking out the right items to be price matched at Walmart I and my 2dd's head to the cashier to check out.
Everything is going fine(make that great actually as the cashier is super friendly and kind). Get to the pricematching which he doesn't know how to do so asks Judy a supervisor. First I am trying to price match generic meat. Can't do according to Judy. Of course I say I always have done so but she reads the back of the flyer that says exact match stating that because they don't know where the meat is from how can it be an exact match. I try and try to explain how the policy works in this case but she isn't having any of it so I say no to the meat. She starts to walk away when I realize I still have fruits and veggies to pm as well. I say out loud is this going to be the same issue with them. She comes over and says that they can be price matched.
A lightbulb moment goes on in my head. "How can you price match them if you don't know where they are from either?" pointing out how you can't have one policy for one item and another for another item. I am speaking clearly and with emphasis and she says she will get her immediate supervisor and I can yell at him instead.
He eventually comes over and tries to say the reason why you can't pm meat is that the meat from the other store is individually wrapped and weighed at that store while Walmart doesn't package their own meat so they can't weigh it to do the difference. I point out that you just need a calculator. He changes his mind and says to go ahead to the clerk.
Even though I got my price matches I feel that I was being placated instead of agreed with and am considering putting in a formal complaint about the argumentative and uninformed supervisor as she just walked in another direction when ever she saw me afterwards in the store.
This is what I ended up sending:
On January 28 approx 8 pm I tried to do some price matching of generic brand meat. The supervisor said because it wasn't possible to say where it was from that it wasn't possible to pm meat at the store. The situation escalated with her telling me that she was getting a manager so that I could "yell" at him. The manager also tried to say meat can't be price matched as the store I was matching with packed their own meat and walmart can't weigh theirs so therefor couldn't match. I pointed out you can do so with a calculator. He did say yes but I feel as if I was being placated rather than having real issue being addressed and that is overzealous staff being rude and ill informed as to policy. I would appreciate feedback regarding this issue. The supervisor name was Judy however I didn't catch the managers name.
I received a phone call this morning along with an apology and a $15 gc. Yes I was correct and he will be going over policy with management. The reason the clerk (nice guy btw)didn't know is that he was filling in as a cashier and works normally in the toy department and wasn't expected to know all the extra policies for cashiers.
