When I went to take my phone out of my coat pocket today the back came off and it and the battery fell in a puddle. I retrieved it fast and wiped it off but, I'm afraid to put it back together - I don't want anything to short out! What should I do? Am I in the market for a new phone? Yikes! Frugal February!

I have heard that if you put the battery in a bag of rice, the rice will absorb any water in it and you should be good to go. A friend if mine did this and it worked for him! Might be something worth trying! Good luck!

The rice trick works well. The only thing is now that your battery has been wet it voids the warranty.

My brother has used the rice trick a couple different occasions and it works. The only things I was told is not use like a minute rice they do not absorb the same.

After reading your post again if it's just the battery that got wet then the phone itself won't be void. You can always pick up a new battery and your phone will work like a charm. What kind of phone is it?

I love my Android phone but it is a battery hog. I bought a spare battery for my Samsung Galaxy on Amazon, complete with charger, I think it was about $25. Works great!

your battery should be fine as long as the contacts on it are dry when you put it back in your phone

Rice does work. If you are nervous, buy a replacement battery off of eBay.

Thanks folks - I came home to "drama" so I almost forgot about the phone. I had wiped the battery off well and put it in the pocket of my coat. In the other pocket of my coat, I put the phone. By the time I thought about it again, it was this afternoon. I gave it a try - re-inserting it and voila - it worked. I'll definitely remember the rice thing though. I also keep the small packets of silicone that come with purses and things - why, I don't know, but they also would have come in handy in this situation. The "force" was with me wrt phones this weekend! Thanks for all your suggestions and info!

Just place your battery in the sunlight for 1hour and then place it in your Phone and check the response.
